Rubio tells donors he is running for White House
<snip>
MIAMI (AP) — Sen. Marco Rubio is telling his top donors that he is running for president because he feels "uniquely qualified" to pitch his Republican Party as one that will defend the American Dream.
The first-term Republican from Florida told his biggest backers on a conference call on Monday that he sees the coming presidential campaign as a choice between the past and the future. In a swipe at Democratic rival Hillary Rodham Clinton, Rubio said the former first lady "is a leader from yesterday."
Rubio says he has always felt the United States is about tomorrow.
Does he have a chance?

I don't know. The Republicans have a bad habit of running candidates that all but concede key points in their opposition to the DNC. With Rubio we have a guy about as ready for the Presidency as Obama was in 2008 in the same way that Romney really made it hard to substantially oppose Obamacare which was modeled after Romney care (granted, it is a superficial problem, but politics is the art of the superficial)
I like the guy, but he needs more executive experience for him to be my first choice.
As a VP he is perfect.
Rubio is a unique candidate in that he will dig heavily into the Hispanic vote......That just might be enough to elect him president.
Older Cuban generation, not the younger.
William Kristol is right for once. Republicans are running younger and on the message of being agents of change. They sound more like Democrats than they do the cranky old person.
Unlike Rand Paul, Rubio doesn't have a rabid fan base likely to expand. Like Rand Paul, however, he has little experience.
His impact on Bush's campaign will be fascinating, but that's about all it will be. Rubio is a far better future candidate than Rand or Cruz, but he needs time to establish himself.
It's a shame Republicans are becoming taken by inexperience and ideological firebrands instead of older and wiser heads that are not interested in smashing down the existing structures of the Nation.
Where will the yonger go? Surely not that old bag Hillary.

I'm all in on bottled water stocks.

Sounds like the Democratic nominee in 2008. Didn't Obama seek to transform this nation? Yes he did. That didn't work too well. I agree, I don't want another Obama anywhere near the Oval Office.
Not sure about older political heads. I'd rather see a non-political head in the game. I don't even necessarily agree that it has to be an older head. A very smart young person is worth more than a stubborn, clueless older person, and often the younger ones bring the best ideas to the table. They look at things in a different way.
