Roy Moore Might Win. Blame the Media

You're Canadian. You can't possibly know what it's like to be an American voter. That's what I said, very clearly, and you didn't understand it. The democratically elected Canadian government has nothing to do with you not being an American voter.

Please read and comprehend posts if you want to quote me. I'm patient, but I don't like wasting my time posting the same thing twice because the reader is slow on the uptick.

Well how very arrogant and presumptuous of you.
No I understood you perfectly. I can know what its like to have to choose between dumb and dumber. There's nothing magical or "American" about that. And as an outsider watching this embarrassment unfold, I see what's happening with a clarity that perhaps you, as a staunch yet disappointed Republican, might just not be able to see. N'est pas?

You're patient? Then show some patience with your own people. They're ****ed right up, and if there's any sanity left in US politics, it needs to surface now. That would be an act of real patriotism, courage and intellect. Instead of calling whole populations indecent, and accomplishing nothing more than rubbing salt in the festering wound that is US politics today.

Thank you for your personal attack. Very not worth my while reading your drivel.

When the going gets tough...I suppose...

If you're really so concerned about this mess, and not simply some partisan hack, then don't be offended or take my prose as an attack.
Take it as a challenge. Realistic and stable minds can fix this. It just takes patience...among other things. America today acts like an infant who wants his bottle right friggin' now! An infant with the biggest gawd-damn gun any human has ever seen. Its a creepy feeling from outside your little mad-house.

And now...I'll get off my soapbox and let others enjoy this thread.

The problem here is that, aside from a plethora of women accusing, a retired cop recounting, a local population who knows of his reputation, and lying about not knowing a few of these women, Moore has an associate who actually invoked a teenage lusting God in his defense, and Project Veritas actually trying to create "fake news" in order to discredit the accusations and the rest as "fake news." So his defense comes down to denying while his friends try to legitimize what he denies. See the obvious contradiction in his defense here?

I don't believe this is about some sense of "innocent until proven guilty" crusade as his supporters are trying to make this out to be. By tossing the whole matter into a category of simple "gossip" or a "witch hunt" or some sort of "liberal plot," Moore's supporters get to fool themselves long enough to stay true to Team R at any cost. Like you stated, if something does come from the allegations, he can always be removed. Except nothing will come from the allegations because of the statue of limitations; and once elected he will remain until the next election. The time to do something about what is painfully obvious is now, before he is rewarded for his behavior with Office.

So you're blaming the media, if Alabaman's elect an accused child molester to the Senate?

Maybe they should take responsibility for their actions, rather than blaming a bogeyman. They're the ones pulling the handle!

This race to fill Sessions' old seat sure has been full of twists and turns.
Oh there are plenty of boogieman involved in this election and when it is all said and done they will be found out.

Don't let your heart be troubled, Moore is not going to win. McConnell has made sure of that. After McConnell and his Senate super pac couldn't defeat Moore in the primary spending over 30 million, and even after the 11th hour 40 year old sex allegations, which I have suspicions the Republican establishment were behind, didn't totally defeat Moore as he was still showing a real possibility of beating Jones. But now, McConnell has found a write-in as another option for Republican voters just 12 days before the election. This time McConnell will have finally defeated Moore from filling Sessions' seat by assuring the Democratic candidate Jones wins.

That's just bloody hilarious. I believe you and all...but that's what makes it so funny.

It's a little too convenient for liberals to be having these epiphanies now.

More rabid left silliness.

Hey, what a surprise, if you are on the level we both actually voted for the same guy in 1980. But I take a 180 degree turn, last time I even voted before
I pulled the lever for Trump was 2000 for Bush #2. In 2004 I was so disgusted with Bush for invading Iraq I stayed home. In 2008 McCain was similar to
Obama on amnesty & Global warming but way worse than Obama on foreign policy that I feared another war if McCain got in so I stayed home. Romney,
the father of Obama care & former governor of Mass. was a joke of a candidate masquerading a Republican so I stayed away.

You are staying away from Republican while Trump leads, on the other hand through the years while I never voted since 2000 as a republican I always gave
to the RNC. Since Trump came to office I haven't given a cent as they spray the dough around to congressmen like Saase, McCaine, Flake, Corker & others
who try to stop the MAGA agenda at every turn. They even called me up & I told them why I won't donate any more.

The media is even trusted less that Trump is. Now that is saying something.

I'm sure the media would be as giddy as you if they weren't losing subscribers and viewers hand over fist.

<penalty buzzer> Wrong, but nice try

Breaking story after story, two great American newspapers, The New York Times and The Washington Post, are resurgent, with record readerships.

Don't believe everything (correction, anything) our dear leader tweets on the toilet

There's a reason the write-in, a former Marine, was paraded out yesterday. You see for about 2 weeks Moore's polling numbers had taken a real hit and Jones had taken the lead. The Republican establishment were feeling pretty safe that Moore's chances of winning had been diminished. But about 7 days ago after Moore's attorneys had shot holes all through Corfman's allegations of being sexually molested at the age of 14 just by using court records on file at the courthouse then the polls started showing Moore regaining ground. Yesterday there were two polls showing Moore with a 4-5 pt. lead. And that is why the write-in was paraded out 12 days before the election in hopes it will split the Republican vote.

If Moore happens to pull a win off, I would love to have a snapshot of McConnell's face at that moment.

McConnell's a dick.
Ever since I heard him say that his mission was to make sure Obama can do nothing, I've been waiting for someone to stick it to him good. Figured Trumpy had done so, but none such luck. He's still a dick.

Quit being flippant. The court documents Moores atty's produced were damning to Corfman's allegations. They shot her story all to Hades.

No, it did not. For a single example, it did not demonstrate that the multiple people she told at the time were lying about her having done so.

We have several women telling roughly the same story without knowing each other or having an ideological ax to grind (and, in fact, being reluctant to come forward). We have the Judge's own words, which, when they aren't self-contradicting, admit to some of the described behavior. The idea that they all came up with the same story and then traveled back through time and space to get others to agree to it is beyond credibility. If you want to argue that one detail or another is off in one section, okay; but that's not the same at all as having a story shot to hades.

Having a story shot to hades is what happened to the lady from Veritas who tried to get the WaPo to run with unfounded allegations.... only to discover that WaPo actually does research and seeks multiple sources to confirm a story like this. Which is what they did. They're liberal, sure; that doesn't mean this story wasn't pretty tightly researched and solid journalism, any more than the Wall Street Journal's conservative/market bent makes it incapable of the same.

Either you didn't pay attention to the evidence or you are not who you claim to be.

I paid plenty of attention. I simply didn't do it desperate for anything that would let me excuse believing what I wanted to believe. I've voted for Moore, and defended him to friends and family before. If anyone was going to be invested in him, it was me - but I'm not so invested in him or the GOP that I'm willing to give over my intellectual integrity to it.

Whatever CPWill, evidently the majority in Alabama don't agree with you. Last poll I looked at Moore us up 6.

Yup. It's a heavy red state, and he's the GOP nom. It's unfortunate, and it's going to do real damage to the Pro-Life cause in particular and the GOP in general.

It also provides a neat little precedent. Want to abuse women? Go ahead. When and if they ever come forward, attack them, encourage your supporters to do so, and ride out the scandal, trusting to time. Hooray, the GOP is now the Democrat party of the 90s.

So. How do you think the women involved figured out how to use time travel? Did they use magic?

I know all about the South in the 70's. Most folks were poor. Alabama was pure Democrat and remained that way clear up until the 90's. It was not uncommon for women to get married in their teens 17, 18, 19 during that time. And if that gentleman had a good job he was considered a good catch for their daughter. Prior to the Civil Rights acts woman unless they came from prominent families didn't have much chance of getting an opportunity to attend college UNLESS they worked their own way through paying for tuition one semester at a time and many did as they did years before. Heck my grandmother before she had the right to vote earned her teaching certificates in Kentucky and Ohio by just taking a test. But those days are long gone.

There were only student loans for a few persons starting in the 50's limited to a few in the fields of science, engineering and higher education. But most upon graduation from high school were faced with the option of getting married or living in poverty providing for themselves with jobs like secretaries, file clerks childcare, dime store clerks, grocery cashiers, etc. It was a different time.

No Moore isn't going to do damage to Pro Life causes. Moore has been pro life and supported those causes for over 40 years

Leigh Corfman's allegations have been shot down just with court documents on file at the courthouse. And Ms Nelson's allegations have been met with locals debunking just about everything she stated in her presser next to her attorney Gloria Allred locals have been coming forward and debunking every detail of her allegation. Even her own stepson posted a video on Youtube calling his stepmother a liar. And they have yet to turn over that "yearbook" for a third party to examine. One accuser turns out to be a teenage mother who Moore turned over custody of her child to her mother. Lots of stuff has come out since the initial barrage of allegations. Even the rumors of Moore being banned at the mall there in Gadsden have been debunked by the owner of the mall at the time and the man who worked at the mall for decades in charge of mall security. The people in Alabama by current polls are going to elect Moore because they have sufficient evidence to prove in their minds he is innocent of said charges.

I am not a big fan of Roy Moore. I have some real Constitutional conflicts with his points of view. So would you please stop making me defend him because I see there is evidence the charges brought before him are not well substantiated. And if he wins McConnell will make sure there is an ethics investigation. I welcome that. It is when those who accused him will get crossed examined and those who defended him will be allowed to give testimony on the record. It's all good.

I have and have had lots of neighbors, relatives, and friends, even, who lived in the South in general and Alabama in that time. No, a 30+ year old man trolling for high school girls was never the norm.

No Moore isn't going to do damage to Pro Life causes. Moore has been pro life and supported those causes for over 40 years

Moore and his sordid history is going to be hung around the neck of every Republican and every pro-lifer out there. Should he win, he'll become an albatross for the Pro-Life movement, and they will suffer from having him as a spokesman in people's eyes.

Leigh Corfman's allegations have been shot down just with court documents on file at the courthouse.

This is incorrect. Court documents have confirmed that indeed Moore had access to her as her parents were going through a divorce as claimed.

Furthermore, Corfman told multiple people, years ago, as did the other women. I would still like to hear how, in your mind, this conspiracy was worked up among multiple women who didn't know each other and who then were able to travel back in time to tell others.

I have a novel idea.

Why not blame the voters?

The media has lost so much credibility the people figure what every they say the opposite is most likely true.

President Donald Trump proposed a contest for mainstream media networks to highlight the most dishonest network reporting about his presidency.

“We should have a contest as to which of the Networks, plus CNN and not including Fox, is the most dishonest, corrupt and/or distorted
in its political coverage of your favorite President (me),” he wrote on Twitter on Monday. “They are all bad. Winner to receive the FAKE NEWS TROPHY!”

Hold a televised event that takes place the same night as WH correspondents dinner. See who gets better ratings.

'President Trump exposing the lying leftist media. Most Republicans are wimps who never fight back against the media lies. This parody
award show is just begging to be done. Release it viral on the internet, but have a full audience with the style of an awards show.
I'm sure some comedians must be working on this now.

Man I'm gearing up for my nominations NOW.'

I remember a little nugget from Charles Murray's "Coming Apart" thesis. The masses were typically decent enough people, but they needed the elites to aspire to something greater. Now the masses are engaging in decay and the elites aren't interested in taking up their responsibilities for showing the unwashed how to behave.

Murray was perhaps largely right after all.

If the American public are morally bankrupt and/or the elites are contributing or encouraging that development, it's time to call it out as it is. That the masses are unwilling to look at themselves in the mirror does not negate the truth that they are dirty.
