Ronald Reagan's Long-Hidden Racist Conversation with Richard Nixon

October 1971, that's almost 50 years ago. People were a lot less guarded about the way they talked.

Reagan was cracking a joke and Nixon appreciated it and laughed.

Give the context of the time, a private conversation, I'm going to say it's not a big deal.

I don't know. Does this cemetery only have Russians buried in it?

No.

One would also suspect the pressures placed on the Soviet system by the Reagan Admin would have exacerbated the existing nationalist problems decribed.

Not really. The nationalist issues the USSR was dealing with was a direct result of the shortages of the Soviet economy that began in the late 60s and early 70s as production levels were falling short of demand. Because Moscow believed that it was more likely trouble would arise in the other Soviet Republics, like Armenia, Uzbekistan, and so on, it prioritized aid and funding towards those regions. But most of the Soviet manufacturing capacity and production facilities were located in Russia, leading many Russians to become angry that though their Republic was doing most of the heavy lifting, the other Republics were given priority.

The Soviet regime relied on Great Russian nationalism to bolster its position throughout its existence.

I see you've run out of talking points and are now just repeating phrases.

In reality, after Stalin's death Russian nationalism was repressed within the Soviet Union and the idea of a common Soviet identify was idolized by Moscow.

Soviet identity was a talking point. Russian national privilege was the reality.

Soviet identity was a talking point. Russian national privilege was the reality.

If that were true than rising nationalism shouldn't have been a problem in the late USSR but it was, as has already been pointed out to you.

That was in reaction to Russian privilege, and was more an effect than a cause.

Never mind the fact that it literally said ethno-nationalism, but please, keep digging yourself into a hole.

Keep parading your ignorance.

Buddy, the only one doing that is you. Your own sources contradict you, and your usual tactic of spamming links is kaput.

Sanger wanted to exterminate blacks in America, whom she found inferior. And the cynical thing about it, is that much in the liberal progressive trend, she tried to use trusted people in this community to pass this horrific idea as normal...

"The ministers work is also important and he should be trained, perhaps by the Federation as to our ideals and the goal that we hope to reach. We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members."

Her goals were clear...

"Many of this group (blacks) are diseased, feeble-minded, and are of the pauper element dependent upon the normal and fit members of society for their support. There is no doubt in the minds of all thinking people that the procreation of this group (blacks) should be stopped."

"Birth control itself, often denounced as a violation of natural law, is nothing more or less than the facilitation of the process of weeding out the unfit, of preventing the birth of defectives or of those who will become defectives. So, in compliance with nature’s working plan, we must permit womanhood its full development before we can expect of it efficient motherhood. If we are to make racial progress, this development of womanhood must precede motherhood in every individual woman."

This woman, a hero to the left, was a rabid racist, so much so that she wanted to "exterminate" the black community...

Sir, your selective ire is amusing the way a monkey throwing feces at its own reflection would be. Sanger's opinion of black people no more discredits the left or abortion rights, for that matter, than Hitler's opinion of Jews discredits the Volkswagen.

If a foundation of bigotry corrupts everything built upon it then our president and, probably the entire country, deserves as much of your attention. Woody Guthrie rented an apartment from Fred Trump and wrote unambiguously about him and his racism.

I suppose
Old Man Trump knows
Just how much
Racial Hate
he stirred up
In the bloodpot of human hearts
When he drawed
That color line
Here at his
Eighteen hundred family project ....

Sanger's bigotry, though shocking to us now, was no more unusual than Trump's, in her time. The difference is, Sanger conceived of ideas like birth control and abortion, which are still understood to be vital to female human rights while Trump's old man was just a dime-a-dozen elitist and bigot who conceived of a fatter, dumber copy of himself.

Maybe you should end this charade in the name of self preservation. It makes you look ignorant.

Sorry, but you've been comprehensively refuted by the record.

A record that contradicts your own points. Sorry buddy, but you are woefully ignorant on the subject at hand.

A few weeks ago Mr. Biden was being condemned because he said that when he first went to Congress, he was able to work with the segregationists then running the Senate. That was considered a sign of his racism, and he had to fend it off. Sen Harris and Sen Booker were never asked, that I know of, if non segrgationists and racists should have worked with those old bulls for the Great Society programs, moon landings and the rest of it. It would have been instructive and informative to hear their answer, rather than the reflexive and boring Trump is a racist.

Because it seems like racism, based on your own post, is not as great an evil as everyone seems to be yelling about seems that it is. As long as the racist supports some other progressive value, the racist gets a pass.

Trump is Jesus Christ

Re: your quotes--

The first one is not unquestionably a statement that she advocates racial extermination. It could just as easily be a statement about what her critics have already claimed to be her motives, and that she doesn't want to fuel that particular fire.

The second is not Sanger, according to this site:

"The mass of ignorant Negroes still breed carelessly and disastrously, so that the increase among Negroes, even more than the increase among whites, is from that portion of the population least intelligent and fit, and least able to rear their children properly." – A quote usually taken out of context, and which was from W.E.B. Du Bois instead of Sanger

As for the third quote, it does not state outright that the speaker is endorsing an elimination of non-white races, nor that, as you presume, she is equating non-white races with "the unfit."
