To be clear, he didn't give a green light to mow down protesters, like James Fields. He said if your car is surrounded by protesters who are threatening you, you have a right to get away for your own safety, even if that means hitting some with your car

Doesn’t matter what Meatball says. If someone purposely hits/runs over anyone with their vehicle, they’d better have a solid case of self-defense to argue.

Standing in the street blocking traffic = Pushing people blocking traffic out of the way with your car
Blocking traffic while acting aggressively toward people trapped in their vehicles = You deserve whatever happens

It's not complicated. Hitting people and running them over is not the same thing as pushing them out of the way with one's vehicle. However, the moment the rioters trap innocent people and behave aggressively is the moment they deserve aggression in return. Self-defense is a thing.
