Romney Joins Senate with Warning to Trump

Wondered how Romney would land in the Senate. Now we know. A hopeful sign, and this declared independence raises the question of whether he is laying the ground for a primary challenge.
...

If you didn't know how Mitt the Mutt would land in the Senate, you don't know Romney (grin).
Full-fledged McCain resurrection: spiteful bitterness because Trump achieved easily what these two failed at miserably.

Primary challenge?!? :lamo

Romney will a full supporter of Trump by February, unless he plays golf with Trump sooner.

Agreed, he will bend the knee.

Problem with Romney he is only 1 year younger than Trump.
Trump is the oldest elected President.

Trump right now is 72y and Romney is 71y. Then toss in Joe Biden who is currently 76y.

Good grief, can't we get some good 80 years old to run.

Trump (and his Russians) achieved while being outvoted what they failed to achieve while being outvoted.

Anyone learning about the American political system for the first time would be forgiven for assuming that the Senate has no oversight powers over the executive branch, and that their means of condemnation are relegated exclusively to op-eds and expressions of concern.

Perhaps if Romney had colluded with the Ruskies he may have won.

Yep, just like Rubio and Flake, Romney pretends to be moderate, but in the end, marches in lock step with the Republican party.

The odds of Romney defying the entirety of his party in the same way that McCain did is...[checks calculations]....negative four thousand percent.

A fact that has had zero impact on his approval numbers.

Yeah, just sayin' Romney is from Utah, so he might have more leeway to oppose Trump, since some Utahns may have put him there to.

That silent generation just can't stop jabbering! LOL

Not so sure....Trump can't threaten to primary him until 2024, and it is very doubtful Trump will be in any position to do so.

Actually, among Mitch’s majority an op-ed is likely the best means a Senator not towing the line will get.

Romney is not going to oppose Trump.

Does Trump march in lock step with the GOP?

does Lieyawatha and Spartacus march in lock step with the Dems?

Meh, I suspect Romney is a Flake.

He'll make rumbling noises about what a sad state of affairs current politics is, and then he'll fall in line and vote with the GOP majority whenever needed. Possibly a protest vote slid in when enough other people are on board to make sure the bill gets passed.

P.s., I wanted him to be the GOP candidate in 2008, and I gladly voted for him in 2012, but he has been a disappointment in the spinal area.
