Robert Reich: "Why the major media fail to see how Bernie Sanders can win"

LOL Obama won Florida twice. Hillary will have no problem against Trump or Cruz. You are understating Sanders perceived stance. He is calling for Universal healthcare and free college. That is not center anything.

That is not 'radical' anything, either. Have you ever been outside of the United States?

Oh I see, we are not talking about the USA. Sanders will have no trouble with his "socialist" lean in Europe but I think he is running for President of the USA.

And the US should continue to be the only major developed nation on the planet without universal healthcare and free college? That is what you are implying?

No I don't believe that. I just think we have a population that needs more education on the subject of socialism before we elect a socialist. Why is that so surprising?

Americans say they are more likely to support an atheist than a socialist for president next year, according to the latest Gallup survey, released Monday.
Just 47 percent of Americans would vote for a socialist if their party nominated one, while 50 percent said they would not, while 58 percent said they would have no problem voting for an atheist in their party.

How ironic when Socialism has been an intrinsic part of America, including today, which we can affectionately refer to as, in practice, Corporate Socialism.

I know the term. It when the losses are socialized and the profits are privatized like the bankers like to do. But you don't hear anyone calling bankers "pinkos".

It's eerie how so many of the posts parallel the OP is talking about, that Bernie is a strong candidate and has momentum etc., but can't possibly win. I beg to differ, he's far from out of it, the fact he's even still in the running against a woman who has been campaigning for 16 years shows some serious weakness in the "coronation" theory. I think a lot of dems wanted a coronation, as I recall at first Bernie was ridiculed severely even accused of riding on her coattails.

I continue to return to the issue of trust. Never mind, at this point, who people are saying they will vote for, but look at the polls regarding trust. Dear Hillary does not fair well. The dems may have spent the last eight years sneering at the continuing probes by the Republicans, but it appears it has taken its toll.

But more than anything, the OP is dead on about 'the establishment' and the mood of the voter's, and if there is a candidate in this race who is more "establishment" than she someone would have to be lying.

I think the ultimate match up is the stolid and polite Sanders against the rude freight train that is Trump.

"Rude freight train" is right. Trump lack the gravitas to be President. If Sanders becomes the Dem nominee, this will be McGovernesque, at least for me. I wouldn't vote for him, but I think he is a much finer choice than Hillary Clinton.

Just shaking my head over Trump. He lacks the temperament to serve as President, he doesn't seem to have any other than the most superficial of "platforms," and whatever his genuine values, they certainly aren't conservative.

And he's not a Republican; his party is the party of Donald Trump, and his ego is a huge tent all its own.
