Like it or not, our freedom is a function of our willingness to revolt under unjust rule. That's part of what the second amendment represents and is part of the reason that some of the second amendment supporters are so die-hard.
If the government fails in its duties to the people, the people have a duty to overthrow it. Yes, that means there will be collateral damage, but we should not value uniformity to societal convention over freedom.
