RNC Confirms Rules Changed to Prevent Trump from Winning Republican Nomination

“A rule used in 2012 to prevent Ron Paul from having his name placed on the Republican nomination in Tampa, Florida will be discarded to prevent Donald Trump from claiming it this year………….

The Washington Examiner reports:
“Party officials and knowledgeable sources have confirmed over the past few days that Rule 40(b) doesn’t exist for the purposes of the upcoming convention. That means at this point, the three candidates left in the race, front-runner Donald Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, are all eligible for the nomination, as, possibly, are the Republican contenders who have since suspended their campaigns.”

“There will always be a perception problem if people continue to miss—to not explain the process properly. So, the 2012 rules committee writes the rules for the 2012 convention. The 2016 rules committee writes the rules for the 2016 convention,” RNC Chairman Reince Priebus told CNN.
………….Priebus insisted what the voters decide in the primaries matters, and yet the RNC has sent the message they are not important and the Republican establishment will decide the rules based on the threat Trump presents to the status quo…………..

Well good ole Alex Jones is streaming………. calling for the 5000 of his followers show up in Cleveland to show the nation to demand and fight for the people’s choice……and do what may be necessary to see that it happens……………..

OMG………….what a bunch of loonies

Let's see, for the second republican presidential nominating convention in a row the republican leadership changes the rules to sink a candidate very popular with their base - and you call folks who object to that "loonies"?

Both sides using all the leverage they can find to swing the primary outcomes. What a depressing time to be a voter.

We need John Conner.......

The rules committee has not even met yet. What the rules will be is any one's guess right now.

We can guarantee that they will be written in a way to justify vote manipulation.

Let's see- no rules have been written as of yet so the poutage is a bit premature. Second being popular with what you refer to as 'the base' isn't the image a GOP member should be proud of and isn't a majority. Third, loonies is one of the NICEST thing many of the Followers of the Orange One are being called... :peace

The Alex Jones Channel has over 1.3 MILLION subscribers.. FYI..

Wow that many loonies listening to a huge loony- I can only hope many of the subscribers are folks wanting to know what the ding bats are ranting about- a 'know you're enemy' sorta thing... :peace

The rules for voting are set by the states...

Don't let facts get in your way tho~

The rules for counting the votes are set by the RNC...Which could include such nonsense as "the following winner take all states that Trump won, will not have their delegates counted on the first ballot because of arbitrary reasons."

But hey, don't let your snide know-it-all attitude stand in the way of the facts.

The votes are already counted for most states, unless you are talking about delegate votes, and no one is discussing changing the rules for pledge delegates. In fact, the source article is not talking about rules involving votes at all.

But don't let facts get in your way~

So the Trump prison shower scene begins in earnest.

The head of the RNC has already announced the rule will be changed. No one with more than two brains cells remaining believes the change is anything but to make the way for stopping Trump at the convention. Second, being popular with the party's base is precisely the image a candidate should be proud of. Third, yes, I know, those bastions of the safe space where it comes to themselves are absolutely vicious where it comes to others they disagree with.

Political parties have self preservation instincts. If somthing were threaten the existence of the politicalparty, the natural instinct for the party would be to do everything possible to secure itself.

Well when Regulus Pubis was on the Sunday Talk Show Circuit he didn't announce any rule changes. What he said was he doubted any of the delegates want to just rubber stamp a past conventions rules and will know doubt want to write their own. he also said EVERY convention writes it's own rules and there are no 'sacred' rules that are not subject to change or outright dismissal.

Anyone with two brain cells understands this and understands this is the EXACT same process the RNC/Convention rule and platform delegates use EVERY TIME since Reagan was a Gipper.

I'm sure Trump is very proud of how mindlessly loyal his base is, however if that base is small, highly radicalized and not attracting the all so important independents it won't win the general.

Trump and his faithful are upset about is they didn't know how the convention process works- like they didn't know delegates from suspended campaigns don't get automatically given to the guy with the most votes.

Trump prides himself on being a consummate craftsman of the deal, he 'knows' to read the fine print of any deal and yet he seemed to want to remain blissfully unaware of how the process works... I now have to wonder who actually put together all the deals he prides himself on making... :peace

Even if doing so may also destroy it?

The head of the RNC does not control any rule changes. The proposed rules for the convention will be submitted by the rules committee, and voted on by the delegates at the convention. Any one who actually knows about the process knows this.

The Alex Jones Channel has over 1.3 MILLION subscribers.. FYI..

And what are these 1.5 million going to do. Here's a suggestion. They can start their own political party and nominate whomever they choose to run for President.

FYI... A Political Party is a private organization. They are not a part of Government. As a private organization, they do not even need a vote from a party member to make their choice of nominee.

the republican party really has no choice but to nominate trump, or at the least cruz. there's a real possibility that 80% of the party will stay home if neither candidate is on the ballot, resulting in a virtual 100% democrat majority in the house/senate. if they deny trump the nomination, they lose 40% of the party, but will at-least hold onto some deep-red seats. that is unless the democrats nominate sanders, in which case many trump voters, myself included, will be voting democrat.

"OMG………….what a bunch of loonies" man do not call me a loonie ,do not call me a loonie unless you are man enough to say it to my face,it is funny how people like you get behind a key board and get real loose with their mouth.
run don run

it's alex jones. what do you expect. this rag blog is worse than the national enquirer.
nothing more than a conspiracy site.

if the RNC would try to rig the convention a certain way a lawsuit no doubt would be filed.
not only that but the base would be extremely upset and they would have a huge PR problem.

with trump losing WI there is now no way that he can get the votes needed to claim
the nomination.

even with CA and NY probably voting for him.

their will be a brokered convention in which I saw a cnbc article that could claim that paul ryan could be the nominee.

"Third, loonies is one of the NICEST thing many of the Followers of the Orange One are being called.." maybe you would like to call this vet a loonie to his face there brother, you sure run your head behind that keyboard,do not call me a loonie man,i am an AMERICAN .

run don run

Even if doing so may also destroy it?

Either way it's toast for at least this cycle. The Orange Guy will destroy it if he gets the nomination- perhaps far more than the saner politicians denying him the nomination will. The Party will be seen as protecting us all from a demigod hatemonger. A return to sanity over over stoking 'the base'. The IDEAL solution would be the Trumpers to form a separate Party and allow the two major Parties a return to fighting over the moderates and appealing to what moderates want, not what crap moderates will tolerate... :peace
