Sparky took over the Tigers when I was barely a teen, and managed them 16 years. He was a fixture of my Tiger fandom, and a class act. The baseball world lost a great personality.
 
That old man had a great heart, cried when his friends before him died. He was well respected.
 
One of the great baseball leaders of all time has left the field.

I was a teenager during the glory days of perhaps the best team in history-the Big Red Machine and while Bench, Rose, Morgan, Concepcion, etc were the stars, Anderson was the glue that made that team so great
