The number of militias in the USA is up at least 37% in just a couple of years.

This quick read gives you a brief overview

Well Regulated: Inside an Indiana Militia

It seems that more and more people on the far right are embracing an alternative reality from the one the vast vast majority of Americans live in preferring to inhabit their own delusional reality that is often potentially dangerous and even rise to criminal eleven as we saw in Nevada and in the Oregon recently.

This article from the Southern Poverty Law Center provides more information showing that the feeble and i,potent response from law enforcement at the Bundy ranch played a significant role in encourage more such in-your-face confrontations from the right.

It appears that some folks have given up on normal political avenues and recognize that their extremist views are in a very tiny minority so they turn to this type of movement as their last desperate tactic to be relevant.

Every time terrorism is in the news left wingers raise alarm about the right wingers, and without a scrap of real evidence that there's much of a problem at all at that end. An altercation involving all of 5 people is blown up all out of proportion.

Anyone who takes what the Southern Poverty Law Center says at face value is an idiot. Radical Islamic terrorist groups don't even exist as far as they are concerned. Why? Because you're talking about brown people! Meanwhile, the Southern Baptist Convention and other Christian groups are constantly showing up on their Hate Watch list. It's racist to say "white lives matter" according to them.

Because the SPLC does not agree with your ideology?

Given the left’s propensity for violence, for example the riots in Ferguson, Baltimore, every Trump speech, etc. it’s laughable every time they mention “militias” as terrorists. It’s simply more cliché crap-ola. And yes, they most certainly blow it ALL out of proportion.

SPLC is a joke.

When the government won't listen to you and they continue over a long period of time to ignore you are you expected to just sit back and accept it?

It's one of the left's way of keeping the country divided. You know, sow fear, bear false witness, it's truly evil.

So its leftists organizing and arming those militias and flouting the law?

I actually think the left intends to bring the country together and doesn't understand why the country is more divided as a consequence of their actions.

I'm not a fan of SPLC, and I think they should be on their own list but, it is racist to say "white lives matter" ;)

Or you could assume that the government is no longer acting as it has in the past, with the general welfare of all as the primary concern but in terms of special interest appeasement and dispensation of privilege. I bet that you understand that-that special interest money is destroying the country yet you are perhaps so self righteous to think that "your side" has the right idea and that these people are wrong. Perhaps you should think of these people as normal people, motivated by thing such as you are motivated, and have a different, rational, reaction. The events in Nevada and Oregon are tiny blips on the radar, certainly less influential than the Ferguson inspired "militia" or other groups.

That mentioned above, along with recently expanded 2A rights, is how we end-up with a bunch of losers and crackpots taking over a wild-life refuge, resulting in damage and death.

There's always going to be fringes that don't fit in society, and due to having little influence over the greater political process, they turn to violent threats and innuendo in an attempt to affect a change above and beyond their given political capital. Sometimes, as seen with Timothy McVeigh et all, they cross the line in a massive derelict delusion of self-reinforcing aberrant group-think, and they commit deadly violence.

That's my take on this, and I believe it to be accurate.

We have our own state militia here in Texas. Not sure if they are left or right wing or a combination though.

"The mission of the Texas State Guard (TXSG) is to provide mission-ready military forces to assist state and local authorities in times of state emergencies; to conduct homeland security and community service activities under the umbrella of Defense Support to Civil Authorities; and to augment the Texas Army National Guard and Texas Air National Guard as required."

I'll proudly support guys like this every day of the week, and twice on Sunday!

As long as the government is functioning according to the constitution...a minority of people don't have a right to abolish it.

The texas militia has it's roots going way back, but officially came to be during ww2, when nearly all military was sent overseas or kept stateside for critical tasks like commo training etc. The federal govt allowed them to create their own militias to take up the slack with nearly no stateside military present. Texas jumped on it and made the texas state guard.

The rule later expired then was later reinstated. Texas still has it;s own militia, it works with active duty reserves and guard units, but reports to texas rather than the federal govt. I wish more states had their own militia like texas, so if all out war breaks out, they can defend their own borders and pick up the slack of the active duty and guuard soldiers sent elsewhere.

Southern Poverty Law Center= Left wing hate group.
