I think you have finally brought up an issue, and an argument, that I actually agree with you on! In fact, I think the Democrats have made a MAJOR mistake by not focusing on Bush's failed immigration policy enough. I am afreaid, though, that the reason they have failed to do so is beacause they look at the 12+ MILLION ILLEGALS as 12 Million potential VOTERS, just as soon as ALL the politicians can let the anger of Americans die down enough to pass legislation that will give them all citizenship. During the last couple marches, for exmple, several different news media showed the DNC actively pursuing illegals to register to vote, to prepare for when they DO become citizens. That is neiher here nor there in regards to your post, though.....
Bush and his administration is definitelyto blame for the Illegal Immigration Policy, but no more than the GOP who are in control right now.
1. There are 12+ Million ILLEGALS here in the U.S. today, and more come across the border every day.
2. Illegals drain a reported $30-40 Million dollars more a year from the economy than they contribute.
3. The federal goverment is refusing to enforce existing laws regarding immigration and refusing to punish companies that are hiring illegals!
4. The corrupt Mexican military is escorting drug dealers across our bo=rders and have even shot at U.S. border patrols.
5. Sophisticated, well-constructed tunnels have been found running from Mexico into the U.S. Everything from Qurans and prayer mats to drugs have been found in these tunnels.
6. The CIA busted a HAMAS smuggling ring. HAMAS admitted that they have smuggled several of their terrorists memers into the U.S. along with illegal Mexicans for cash.
7. The Mexican Govt has filed law suits on behalf of illegals who were caught trespassing, destroying priivate property, and coming into the country illegally. As a result the U.S. Fed. Courts have seized several AMERICANS' farms/lands and handed it over to the illegals, finding in their favor....while our country does nothing.
8. In the wake of the Fed. Govt.'s refusal to act, a civilian militia has formed and has begun protecting our borders.
9. In an effort to counter the civilian militia, Border patrols were intitially directed to take into custody the illegals the militia detained and then release them into the U.S. later. More recently, it was revealed that instead of doing its duty of protecting our borders/Americans and acting to stop illegal immigration, the Federal goverment was tipping off the mexican Govt. about the whereabouts of the civilian militia, thereby assisting Mexicans/others come into this country illegally!
10. In the wake of the Federal Govt refusing to put troops on the border or to attempt to stop the illegal entry, States are having to act on their ownto stop illegal immigration. what we are witnessing is not only the complete FAILURE but also the complete REFUSAL of our Federal Goverment (politicians) to enforce the existing laws and to protect and defend our borders and American people!
I have contacted numerous politicians, both Republicans and Democrats alike, to challenge them on these issues, and i have actually been contacted by several. In the end, the final responses by these politicians that I am getting is, "It is a very complicated issue that can not be handled easily."
My response has been, "With all due respect, you are WRONG! Close the borders to stop the flood of illegal immigration, enforce the existing laws to begin a crackdown of illegal hiring, and THEN take what time you need to address what to do with the 12+ (and growing) Million Illegals in the is country! Put troops on the border to seal the borders instead of doing nothing while thousands more flood into this country while you deliberate! You do not have an answer or existing plan to deal with the illegals here now, but we DO have the ability to stop the flood of illegals into this country, and we DO have existing laws to stop the illegal hiring of illegal imigrants! There is nothing HARD about THAT!"
While the democrats have a GOLDEN opportunity to not only rightfully HAMMER the Bush administration and GOP for their borderline treason - GIVING America away - in what is their failed Illegal Immigration policy!
I believe they are refusing to capitalize, though, because they are considering/selling America out as well for the 12+ Million illegals who will become voters just as soon as ALL the politicians vote for their citizenship!
It is not about America any more! "$crew America" - it is now a fight for the votes of the 12+ Million illegal immigrants for which they are willing to betray America, its security, and burden the American people with the economic consequences! While the Democrats have the 'moral high ground here, they seem willing to sell that land off with the rest of America for 'illegal' VOTES!
