Growing reservations among Democrats about letting tax rates rise for wealthy Americans are making it more unlikely that Congress will decide what to do about the looming expiration of Bush-era tax cuts before November's election.

Democratic leaders are set to return to Washington on Monday determined to send a populist message with a bill that lets the tax cuts expire for couples making $250,000 or more, while renewing them for people who earn less. Republicans want to extend the tax cuts for everyone.

Rank-and-file Democrats, however, are split. Earlier this summer, four members of the Senate Democratic caucus expressed concern about letting the rates for upper-income Americans rise to previous levels—independent Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut, and Democrats Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Kent Conrad of North Dakota and Evan Bayh of Indiana
FOXNews.com - Rift Over Tax Cuts Widens Among Democrats

I thought they had a "plan" for this, what happened to the plan man?

Also, side note, this pisses me off, both sides should be slapped repeatedly for letting it get this bad:

The divisions within their party make it unlikely that Democrats can craft a bill that could gain the 60 votes needed to pass the Senate.

What's happening is, some democrats are finally putting the well being of America first, while the stubborn ones like Obama still put politics first.

they're putting their careers, ie, reelections, first

which is quite a CHANGE

but certainly not any THE ONE can believe in

obtuse obama yesterday in ohio undermined HIS OWN "major policy address" by making the bulk of his remarks "far more about politics than economics"

Obama Frames Election as Battle Over Economy - WSJ.com

meanwhile, his newest, half baked economic "plan" was "met with indifference by many embattled democratic candidates, if not outright disapproval"

a blue senator, 3 house members on the ropes (peters of michigan, john salazar of colorado, jason altmire of pn) voiced instant "skepticism," recognized that the "public is uneasy" about democrat solutions, and three progressive candidates (ms fisher in ohio, widowed mrs moore in kansas and jon hulberd in az) did the same

Dems Breaking With Obama's Economic Plan - Hotline On Call

we've already seen senators nelson, lieberman, bayh and BUDGET CHAIR kent conrad insist on dumping the party's tax-the-rich line

all the dems appeared to agree that "the rollout has not been good"

and "there has been little coordination between the white house and congressional leaders on the proposals"

exactly---he's talking economy, he's attempting to reassure the electorate he is NOT completely solution-less, here, as he looks

that is, he doesn't have a bill, he doesn't have a vote, he doesn't have the votes, he doesn't have time...

he's sheerly engaging in electioneering, which is fine

but HE CAN'T EVEN DO THAT RIGHT

this is a MUST SEE video, i don't think i've ever seen so much of the msm so meanly maul a democrat president:

Echo Chamber: The new S-word? - Alexander Trowbridge - POLITICO.com

how can a "major policy address" on the economy CALL OUT by name the bright orange wannabe speaker EIGHT separate times?

what the heck is the oblivious one doing?

he LOWERS himself while simultaneously RAISING him who glows in the dark

boehner, obviously basking in the bright beams, came back bluntly---if you really want to be bipartisan, he flashed, extend the bush tax cuts to ALL americans and set non defense discretionary spending at 08 levels

now, THERE's a plan with some real support (outside the white house, ie, across our great nation)

instead, over-his-head obama talked about HIMSELF---his grandfather who fought ww2, his father in law who worked heroically tho he had cp, his own "work" as a community organizer "in the shadow of a shuttered steel plant in the south side of chicago"

continuing, he "hit" republicans...

he "castigated" the orange guy...

THIS is a major policy address?

on our current economic CRISIS?

are you sure this guy knows what he's doing?

meanwhile, speaking for the minority, rga barbour explained: we "in a very unified fashion have opposed bad policy, and the public appreciates it when a party fights against what it knows is bad policy"

exactly

embarrassed yet?

the caucus is, the base is, the msm are

obama on george stephy's morning abc show for girls: my policies "have fed the perception that washington is still ignoring the middle class"

and: "if the election is a referendum on are people satisfied about the economy as it currently is, then we're not going to do well"

Obama's Blunt Take: Poor Economy Hurts Democrats : NPR

there ya go

where do some of you people go to get back your self respect?

if you're a mod, we all know you go to the basement

but what about the more mature?

Many of the Dims (no spell error) are distancing them Obama on the run to try to save their political futures.

It might also be that a couple of them at least have learned from History that Tax and spend doesn't do anything but put the Nations further into trouble and debt.

The way the economy was saved before was reduced spending not more and lower taxes not higher ones.

Obama and the is into black liberation theology which is anti[ Constitution, anti-American, and anti-white people, it's all about redistribution of wealth take from the rich and giver to those who didn't earn it. He's a Socialist/Marxist radical with no clue what the hell he's doing except trying his best to kill the Nation, and few of his former deciples are catching on.

TIME MAG (you're familiar with luce's baby, i presume) last week did a HIT PIECE called, "how obama became mr unpopular"

considering the source---ouch

you want the link?

i put it on one of these pages when it went down

today, TIME reports that the OFA, obama's vaunted "organization for america" which turned out EIGHT MILLION volunteers in 08 has all but DISAPPEARED

Obama's MIA Volunteers: Organizing for America Shrinks - TIME

oh, my!

aren't you SURPRISED?!

clairvoyant charlie cook: "there's no chance that OFA is going to have the slightest impact on the midterms"

well, that's categorically cut and dried

"donors are depressed: receipts are a fraction of what they were in 2008"

more than half the party's get out the vote cash was given to ofa by the white house, a move which time tells us has really teed off the termagents

he's HOARDING it for TWENTY TWELVE

LOL!

this guy is just amazing, everyday it's something new and OUTRAGEOUS

his own side has come to DESPISE him

but not YOU, not yet?

no problem, there's TIME...

wapo perforce piles on, completely predictable

washingtonpost.com

now his TAX CREDIT meets "cool reception"

that ice is instantaneous

NO ONE is happy

dem lawmakers---scared of adding to deficit

economists---too little too late to accomplish anything

biz---too many strings

the problem now really is the WHO who is making these proposals

he's a self fulfilling prophecy

and opinion is becoming BIPARTISAN

no PAYFOR, so regularly remiss

only suggestions, here

which is all appropos, as he has NO BILL, he has NO VOTE, he has NO SUPPORT, he has NO TIME

ie, what else is the flummoxing fool's flapping anymore, these days?

mere suggestion

the PARTY OF NO expands, coast to coast

the mosque, the (3) lawsuits vs the people of AZ, the ridiculous and preposterous "reach out" to iran, the attempt to move ksm to manhattan, the face-first full-out flop that is afghanistan...

that is, incompetence complete and comprehensive

AND character, ie, WHO this man really is

are YOU still sticking with him?

in the face of such all encompassing amateurishness?

you're loyal (and lonely)

a lot more loyal than he is, ask rev wright, ask shirley sherrod, ask the house dems he made walk the plank before absconding all their cash, ask the young invulnerables who must purchase aetna else face criminalization...

party on, be proud!

Grim, I know you know better than this. They just don't want "one more thing" before the elections. Disingenuos crooks that they are. They will NEVER stop putting politics first -- Democrats OR Republicans.

If The Obama was putting politics first he'd be moving to the Right. No, he's a committed socialist, prepared to sacrifice himself and most of his Party to achieve their objective. They'll live comfortably on their pensions, and hope that the Republicans lack the fortitude to undo all the crap that they have done.

it would be amazing who is coming to see what we more objective observers knew 3 years ago if it weren't so undeniable and in-your-face

politico headline, "is obama in the process of losing it:" Boehner, Obama's favorite foil - The Arena | POLITICO.COM

that the journo-listers would even ask tells you just HOW BAD it really is

but when a MAJOR POLICY ADDRESS in the midst of dank economic DEPRESSION becomes in front of everybody HIJACKED by some spiteful, spitting and sputters about some ORANGE dude most people never even hearda...

gibbs shouldn't have suggested the "professional left" pee in that cup (it was too true, it hit too close to home)

the leaders looked so disloyal

but YOU stick in there, now

tuff it out
