Sen Scott's (R/FL) new plan for the Republicans would raise taxes on over half of Americans..... those making the least money and also the elderly on Social Security.

Scott also proposes transferring almost all government jobs over to the private sector (corporate friends of his no doubt).

With a wealth of $250 million, Scott has never had to manage a weekly paycheck. The GOP is totally out of touch with America.

Has Nanccy? Has Biden in the last 50 years?
The 5.5 trillion in spending by the democrats is going to force some tightening of the belt to get the budget, the deficit, the debt under control. I'm all for taxing at a reasonable rate of increase to correct the problems.

Did Pelosi or Biden lead a company that was found guilty of one the largest Medicare fraud operations in history?

Points 5 and 6 are the best parts of it, 11 is by far the worst.

If anyone is interested in reading the plan instead of a hit piece about the plan you can fine it here - https://www.politico.com/f/?id=0000017f-1cf5-d281-a7ff-3ffd5f4a0000

I don't think you really have any credibility to talk about whether something is a "hit" piece given the very many ugly things and tragedies you gleefully run to politicize.

At any rate, the "plan" shows why loudmouth Republicans simply cannot be trusted to govern. They want to sabotage it and destruct it. And all these local GOP efforts to protect and promote racism show part of the reason why. Their obedience to the richest of the rich interests shows the rest.

Gee, I wonder if he asked Bannon for the money he stole that Trump supporters donated for the wall and Trump pardoned him for

Top Republican Plans Tax Hikes on 100 Million Americans

Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL), who is heading up the Senate Republican campaign effort this year, released a 31-page glossy GOP agenda because, as he said to Politico, “it’s important to tell people what we’re gonna do.”
<snip>

Scott’s top priorities include completing the border wall and naming it after Donald Trump, declaring that “there are two genders,” ending any reference to ethnicity on government forms and instituting 12-year term limits for members of Congress.

And then there’s this one: “All Americans should pay some income tax to have skin in the game, even if a small amount.”

While that might sound innocuous in theory, in practice it means raising income taxes on more than 100 million, mostly poor Americans.

Go ahead and run on a tax hike on the lower and middle classes, Scott. See how well that works out for you.

Meh. I just figured that if y'all were going to have another stroke fest thread that the least I could do for the occasion is throw a condom on the table.

The "plan" is just a bunch of tired talking points. For example, how many times can the GOP promise to gut the federal government, grow it instead, before we know they're full of crap?

And he wants "term limits" for federal workers. Why? What does that accomplish? Why don't private sector firms have 'term limits' and arbitrarily fire those with a given level of experience? Oh, right, that would be idiotic, so why is it different for the federal workforce?

He says, "today's Democrat [sic] Party" is trying to rig elections, but that's a lie. There's no evidence of that, and is the classic case of projection. Fact is the Democrats are advantaged with more turnout, the GOP with less, so the GOP want less. More turnout isn't rigging anything, it's just that when more vote, the GOP does worse so they are doing what they can to put up barriers to voting, like they've done for years, including effectively criminalizing voter registration drives.

The point about 'packing the courts' was nonsense. The one thing that will last decades after Trump is gone are the huge numbers of federal judges at all levels he got jammed through in 4 years. He must think packing the court means naming anyone not on the Federalist Society short list.

FWIW, the use of the illiterate "Democrat Party" is really all you need to read. He's throwing red meat to the partisans. If AOC writes an 11 point plan referring to the e.g. "Republikkkan party" how seriously would we take it? Not very!

Considering neither of them has done anything substantive outside of politics their entire lives, I’d guess the answer would be no.

It's a wonder that some of the GOP top brass balked at the idea of putting out a plan to raise taxes on the bottom half of the country, gut the military and entitlement programs, eliminate half a million jobs, and instill Christofascism at all levels of society. But Rick Scott, the guy who got rich stealing taxpayers' dollars from Medicare and Medicaid, doesn't play by their rules!

No ****ing way!!!! A politician spouting off a bunch of talking points that will never get done? Who has ever heard of such insanity??!!

LOL, that's some crazy spin. Scott leading up a company that was guilty of one the largest Medicare fraud operations in history is more "substantive" than decades of government service.

It seems you only want to participate in threads that you start, regardless of how many current threads there are on the same topic. Why is that?

There are few things less substantive in this country than spending your entire adult life in politics.

OK, so we agree this can be tossed into the rhetorical garbage plan as useless drivel that can only appeal to mouth breathing morons. (y)

Rick Scott is another scumbag crook.

After Overseeing Biggest Medicare Fraud In History, Sen Scott Doesn’t Want to Vote on Health Nominee That Would Crack Down on Medicare Fraud

Sen. Rick Scott, who walked away with $300 million after his company defrauded Medicare, is prioritizing special interest and health care industry profits over working families
WASHINGTON D.C. —
Senator Rick Scott, the former health care executive whose company was forced to pay $1.7 billion in fines after committing the nation’s largest health care fraud scheme at the time, refused to answer whether he believes President-elect Biden’s Health and Human Services (HHS) secretary nominee, Attorney General Xavier Becerra, and other Cabinet picks deserve a floor vote in the Senate. After his company defrauded Medicare while he walked away with $300 million, Scott has consistently stood with health care corporations and special interests allies to restrict access to health care for working families. In contrast, as Attorney General, Becerra has a record of cracking down on fraud in Medicare and Medicaid and would be charged with regulating those programs as HHS Secretary.

When the federal investigation of Rick Scott’s former hospital company became public in 1997, the board of Columbia/HCA forced him out. Scott left with $300 million in stock, a $5.1 million severance and a $950,000-per-year consulting contract for five years.
