Revealed: FBI investigated civil rights group as 'terrorism' threat and viewed KKK as victims

The FBI opened a “domestic terrorism” investigation into a civil rights group in California, labeling the activists “extremists” after they protested against neo-Nazis in 2016, new documents reveal.

Federal authorities ran a surveillance operation on By Any Means Necessary (Bamn), spying on the leftistgroup’s movements in an inquiry that came after one of Bamn’s members was stabbed at the white supremacist rally, according to documents obtained by the Guardian. The FBI’s Bamn files reveal:

  • The FBI investigated Bamn for potential “conspiracy” against the “rights” of the “Ku Klux Klan” and white supremacists.
  • The FBI considered the KKK as victims and the leftist protesters as potential terror threats, and downplayed the threats of the Klan, writing: “The KKK consisted of members that some perceived to be supportive of a white supremacist agenda.”
  • The FBI’s monitoring included in-person surveillance, and the agency cited Bamn’s advocacy against “rape and sexual assault” and “police brutality” as evidence in the terrorism inquiry.

The FBI’s 46-page report on Bamn, obtained by the government transparency non-profit Property of the People through a records request, presented an “astonishing” description of the KKK, ...

COMMENT:-

How many people didn't have at least a brief mental hicup when they read “The KKK consisted of members that some perceived to be supportive of a white supremacist agenda.” (emphasis added)?

HAHAAH In all fairness... I gotta waive my hand "I bring up the IRS targeting alot"

BUTTTTT To be fair... my ire is usually directed @ Lois Lerner..... It was uncovered by the FBI, she plead the 5th and is now prancing around free as a bird.... That to me is not justice served, but again...... political opinion.....

With that.... Extremest against extremest can go play in the middle of traffic for all I care..... Its when extremest take it on the innocent or the non "conforming" types.

Oh come on now, if ONLY some ONLY perceived the KKK to be ONLY supportive of a white supremacist agenda, that leave a lot of room for there to be "a lot of good people" in the KKK - doesn't it?

And you can't condemn people for "exercising their First Amendment Rights" - can you?

And besides, not 100% of the people who belong to the KKK were in attendance at any particular incident, so you shouldn't be condemning the whole group for the actions of a few - should you?

I guess that you didn't recognize the "logical arguments" that are most frequently put forward by Mr. Trump's supporters since they weren't linked to one of Mr. Trump's "tweets".

Just fyi, this info is nothing new, bamn has been listed as a domestic terror organization since bush was president. Bamn i known as an antifa group, and also the most violent of them, in the past few years nearly every time you saw heavy violence and property destruction with antifa it was most of the time bamn. They also have no problems stabbing people for their political beliefs, and their two main leaders are whackadoodles. Felarca alone is like if you took the biggest tree hugging hippie with the maturity of a 4 year old girl and gave her stalins authoritarianism.

There has also been reports through the years of bamn being a cult in itself, threatening to injure or kill members and their families if they leave the group, and forcing it;s members to abide by their ideology and indoctrination. In short bamn is not a civil rights group, it is a terrorist group, and has been since the 90's, people trying to call them civil rights groups would be the same people calling isis freedom fighters, it is trying to downplay what they actually do and morph their cause to look good even though it clearly is not.

here is one of the interviews from the second in command of bamn, who is in and out of prison over starting riots and assault.

Oh so you re worried more about the wording rather than the fbi investigating a terrorist organization.

You do know the kkk is also monitored by the fbi as domestic terrorists as well right?

No, I'm bothered by how some supposedly intelligent and rational person could think that the KKK is ONLY "perceived to be supportive of a white supremacist agenda".

The last time I looked the KKK was 100% in favour of a white supremacist agenda and not merely "perceived" as being "supportive" of a white supremacist agenda.

Obviously, there are some people out there who get uncomfortable when it is pointed out that the KKK's main purpose for existing is to establish a white supremacist society. I have no idea if that is because those people know full well that the idea of establishing a white supremacist society is completely unacceptable to the vast majority of Americans and are afraid that they will be "dissed" if they are "outed" as "closet racists", but I sure wouldn't bet the rent against it - would you?

I have no doubt that the KKK is being monitored by the FBI (which can, at times, make personnel selection for assignment to that task difficult since the FBI can't use Jews, or Hindus, or Sikhs, or Muslims, or Catholics, or Mormons (I forget what the currently approved term is), or "Blacks", or "Indians", or "Orientals", or Females, or Homosexuals) but I am also sure that the KKK is quite able to recognize who the FBI agents are in exactly the same way that the American Communist Party did.

According the the leader of the American Communist Party at the time, they could always recognize FBI agents because they always paid their dues in full and on time.

PS - Did you know that the KKK is NOT (according to the definitions of the US government) a "terrorist group"?

You are more worried about the kkk being labelled poorly by an fbi writer, yes they wrote them wrong, not sure if for legal reasons or the writer was just plain stupid.

Fyi the kkk does not Currently match the definition of terrorists by the us govt, but in the past they were the textbook definition of terrorists, hence why the fbi still watches and monitors them. They got away with terrorism for decades because many police and govt officials were part of their organization, even though now they do not have the clout to get away with it like they once did, the fbi watches them incase they decide to embrace their old terroristic ways like beating people for supporting causes they hate or hangng people and burning crosses to try and intimidate people to support their political and social message.

It isn't that the KKK is being 'poorly labelled' that bothers me so much as the level at which that grossly inaccurate statement was made. As I said "I'm bothered by how some supposedly intelligent and rational person could think that the KKK is ONLY "perceived to be supportive of a white supremacist agenda".".

Telling me that I am right when I point out that you are wrong does not make your incorrect statement correct. (Yes, I know that some people think that I'm being "picky" when I insist that people get their facts straight - but that isn't MY problem.)

I'm confused. So you say that KKK members don't have civil rights? You say they don't have the right to not be the victims of terrorists?

Now where in "How many people didn't have at least a brief mental hicup when they read “The KKK consisted of members that some perceived to be supportive of a white supremacist agenda.” (emphasis added)?" do you see me saying that I didn't think that racists had no civil rights or that the members of a racist organization did NOT have the right to not be the victims of terrorists.

You agree with Trump that the FBI are incompetent?

No I don't. I merely asked a question, and that question was "How many people didn't have at least a brief mental hicup when they read “The KKK consisted of members that some perceived to be supportive of a white supremacist agenda.” (emphasis added)?".

Can I safely assume that your opinion is that it is ONLY a PERCEPTION that the KKK is "supportive of a white supremacist agenda" and that, in fact the KKK is NOT "supportive of a white supremacist agenda" and is NOT a "white supremacist organization"?

Or is it your opinion that the KKK is COMMITTED TO a "white supremacist organization"?

The fbi can not arrest american citizens over affiliation, they do however keep tabs on groups eiher currently or formerly known for domestic terrorism.

It's perfectly conceivable to me that at least some KKK members are not "supportive of a white supremacist agenda" - despite that being the raison d'être for the group itself.

Not that it really matters. They could have used any inadequately brief description they wanted. Everyone knows what the KKK is and doesn't need the FBI to explain it to them.

To correct you they the kk is monitored as domestic terroriss even if they do not meet the definition at this moment as they have been widely known in the past of meeting the definition.

If you want to say "The KKK is monitored by the FBI because it is POTENTIALLY a 'domestic terrorist' organization." I won't disagree with you.

The fact remains that an official FBI document said that the KKK was "PERCEIVED" by "SOME PEOPLE" as being "SUPPORTIVE" of a white supremacist agenda.

In reality, the KKK is, in the minds of any reasonably rational and intelligent person as BEING a white supremacist organization that has, in the past, been proven to have engaged in activities which would now be classed as "terrorist" - and which has NOT publicly disclaimed those acts.

The fbi can not arrest american citizens over affiliation, ...

Would you like to try going to your nearest FBI office and telling them that you are a member of ISISISISILDAESHWHATEVER and providing evidence to back up that assertion?

they do however keep tabs on groups eiher currently or formerly known for domestic terrorism.

And a whole lot of other groups as well.

Not quite - but close.

The stated objective of BAMN is to INCREASE the civil rights of a sub-set of the American population so that that sub-set is treated equally with all other sub-sets.

The stated objective of the KKK is to DECREASE the civil rights of a sub-set of the American population so that "Dem Darkies Know Dere Place".

As far as "tactics" go, you're a lot closer to the truth than either BAMN or the KKK want to admit.
