Just four years after giving the Washington Times to his eldest son, the Unification Church's leader, the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, is considering paying millions of dollars to buy back the conservative newspaper he founded in 1982, according to former Times staffers with knowledge of the negotiations.

The nutter paper known as the Washington Times is on the ropes, has come close to bankruptcy, and has had to cut back and do massive layoffs. Now, Reverend Moon is about to buy back the paper from Preston Moon, who threatened to close up shop. One thing for certain - No matter what happens here, it will still be the Moonies running the paper, which is what probably accounts for the reason that it is so darn loony.

Article is here.

That would be a shame if Bill Gertz had to get a real job.

Friggin' Moonie Times.

To be fair, it's not like almost every other paper daily isn't in the same position.

The other papers are not owned by the Moonies either, but I do see your point. The future of news is the internet. Papers will eventually die out as a media source.
