Reunion, the largest gold nugget in Britain, found in Scottish river | News | The Times

The largest gold nugget in Britain has been unearthed by a treasure hunter lying face down in a Scottish river.

The diver, who wishes to remain anonymous, discovered the 22-carat lump using a method called “sniping”, which sees the prospector use a snorkel, dry suit and hand tools to search the riverbed. Weighing 121.3g it is the biggest of its kind in the UK and is thought to be worth £80,000.

I can see this going for much more at auction. Unfortunately it is getting a bit cold for a gold rush to lie in Scottish rivers.

Doubts are beginning to surface... could this be a "fortunate find?"
