I absolutely think serious injury could result to a child by violently shaking him/her, especially an infant too you to even hold its own head up.

Tell you what. We'll leave it just like trapping kids in hot cars in the summer. WILL they die from it? Maybe, maybe not. If you do it, should you be charged? You betcha.

I think you completely missed the point of the article. They're not saying shaking a baby is good or should be excused, they're saying the symptoms/signs of certain injuries may not be from shaking at all.
