SOME who call themselves Christian seem to have a problem with tolerance of other beliefs

Residents still fighting Tenn. mosque

A group of citizens opposed to the new Islamic Center of Murfreesboro are appealing their case to the state Supreme Court. Mosque opponents in Murfreesboro, Tenn., want the county to seize a newly constructed Islamic Center and turn it over to someone else.

J. Thomas Smith, an attorney for citizens asking the Tennessee Supreme Court to overturn an appeals court decision that allowed occupancy of the new 12,000-square-foot Islamic Center of Murfreesboro last November, told The Tennessean there would be several acceptable remedies should his clients prevail.

So a group of conservatives, who are loathe to see big government restrict their rights and religious freedom, want the government to seize a house of worship?

The Tennessean had a whole lot more less rational commenters

What group was it that didnt want that mosque in NYC?

Probably shouldn't have attacked the United States. That particular tactic often fails to build good will.

Normally I`d give you a big speech about how bigotry is bad etc.

Ask you how Muslims in this town attacked the United States and why they shouldn`t be allowed to worship as they see fit...

BUT.

Since you`re a known racist, bigot and homophobe I will not waste my time.

The muslims in NYC and TN attacked the US?

I'm not sure what I am suppose to take from this?

I can help. A small group of bigoted morons managed to draw attention to themselves. Now, they can start a 501c3 (or similar) and get other morons to donate tax free money to them and they can fulfil the American dream - mo' money.

And look - it's actually working!

Last year a beautiful new Mosque was built in one of our older, run down neighborhoods. So pretty and peaceful. Nobody here bothered them and none of them bothered us. If I drive by on Friday, I'll see families dressed up to attend services.

I'm not much of a god person but until we progress to the point where humans realize that they are their own gods - we can use the construction jobs.

Exactly. These people have an absolute lack of any foresight. They are almost all members of a minority sect of Christianity (fundamentalist evangelical). If they get their way (which they won't, but on the outside chance) they will be setting the precedents that will eventually be used against themselves.

The arrogance of thinking that the law should only apply to certain religious groups is going to be their downfall. Well, that and their celebration of ignorance and disinformation.

That whole bit about no laws prohibiting free exercise seems lost on these folks.

They understand it perfectly, they want the freedom to burn what they don't like to the ground. Churches, mosques, temples, books, people, and the like.
