Require prostate exam before Viagra/Levitra?

The comparison is stupid as hell. Requiring an exam that has nothing to do with the medication being given and requiring an ultrasound for pregnancy have nothing in common. He can at least choose something that is somehow similar to an ultrasound.

Erectile disfunction can be due to problems with the prostate.

A quick exam to make sure nothing is going wrong up there makes sense if someone is having problems with erections.

But don't worry, the doctor won't be required by law to tell the patient what everything feels like, as with the pre-abortion sonogram.

And it's not something I want to live through. It's not going to happen, sorry.

Some men are such babies. Try having one, for God's sake.

Edit: A baby, that is. :rofl

Whoever the heck that is ....

I see quite a few people against the govt. mandating ultrasounds. The comparison is totally valid, you just don't like it because you don't want the govt. in YOUR body
missing the obvious fact of course that I and pretty much everyone with the exception of Tigger (and really...come on....) has said what is suggested is actually a GOOD idea...

(Edit-you strike me as someone that APPROVES of that whole 'government mandate' thing)

Call me what you will, but I'm not having someones finger up my ass.

Not even for a prostate exam?

I had a doc stick his finger up there before I had an endoscopy because I was having severe heartburn.

My emotional instinct, as he had his finger up there, was to kick his ass.

:)

Why would they do that for heartburn?? That seems kind of random.

He wanted to check for bloody stool.

It was a medical procedure. Big deal.

You'll get over it eventually.

So you have heart burn and he is checking for bloody stool? Alrighty then..

So you have heart burn and he is checking for bloody stool? Weird connection there.

Do you think Dr. Hartman raped me like he did Peter?

It was unpleasant, but I don't get emotional over the prostate exam

However, the nibbling on my neck gets to me.

A colonoscopy doesn't involve a finger. It involves a Polaroid camera on a stick.

Oh...well that is even worse. Actually, a lot worse.

Actually, it is relevant as has already been stated. Erectile dysfunction can be because of prostate problems.

The u/s that is being mandated is NOT for medical reasons - it's solely to try to guilt the woman into not aborting.

The point I was making is that if you are going in for meds then the service you are requesting has nothing to do with a prostate exam. It's just something extra to throw on top to make sure nothing is wrong, but you never requested the doc check if anything is wrong, so why in the hell are they checking?

I'm glad my dad didn't have that attitude - detecting prostate cancer early saved his life. He had 16 more years he would not have had had it not been for that.

Because it's proper medical practice.

ETA: Are you aware that women have to submit to a gyn exam and PAP smear in order to get oral contraception? (this is not mandated by law, it's common medical practice)

Why? If I go for a service and ask for service A when exactly did I ask for service B? Why are they trying to push service B on me so I can get service A? If who I'm doing business with can't even do as I ask then exactly why should I consider doing business with them?

Yes, but we are not talking about that. Did I say somewhere I approved of that? If you ask for a service the doctor should give you that service without requiring other services are rendered.

At some point life just becomes living while deteriorating. There isn't much point to that after a while.

Many Cons on this board seem to support requiring a sonogram with the tech pointing out the organs and extremities of the child before a woman can abort, under penalty of fine or prison.

So I ask you this: how would you feel if the State mandated that anyone who buys Levitra, Viagra, or an other erectile disfunction medication must first get a digital rectal exam to check for an enlarged prostate? No digital exam, no ED meds, or you pay a fine if you get them anyways.

How about it? Sound good? Are you ok wit a doctor sticking his finger up your ass before you can get meds for a hard on?

The comparison would more accurately be to requiring a pregnancy test before an abortion is performed.

Good grief.

Exactly. That's when you check out.

No, that would be silly.

Pregnant women don't need a pregnancy test.

Men with ED should get a prostate exam.

Anyone who plans to have a surgical procedure of any kind should be required to watch a video of that same procedure performed on someone else.
