Request for Clinton emails would take 75 years to complete - NY Daily News

The release of emails from Hillary Clinton’s top aides when she was Secretary of State could be a long time coming — as in, 75 years. That’s how long the U.S. State Department said it will take to fulfill a Freedom of Information Act request for 450,000 pages of emails from Clinton’s former aides, CNN reported Monday.

The Republican National Committee filed the FOIA request in December, asking for the emails from three of Clinton’s aides — Cheryl Mills, Jacob Sullivan and Patrick Kennedy.

In March, the RNC sued the State Department for allegedly stalling on the request.

Corruption defined.

It's hard to arrest Satan.

Do you have any clue how long it takes to not only read 450,000 pages of email, but get a decision on what if anything with in them might need to be redacted? For conservatives who seem to think government is incredibly slow and inefficient you seem to have a very high expectation of expediency on a request of this magnitude.

Most transparent administration ever.

What's humorous is that it actually has been. What minor transparency problems the Obama administration has had pales in comparison to the bull**** that Bush and Cheney pulled.

Bush and Cheney had nothing to with Hillary's or the administration's problems. They've been gone for nearly 8 years, and while in office had little to do with the Clinton's or Obama.

This is a current ongoing problem.

What a load of bull****. If Clinton has something to hide, we can't trust her (with nuke codes).
Period.

All of which could have been avoided if all emails were on government servers.

The magnitude of the vetting problem just indicates another reason for no outside servers.

That they now have an excuse/problem means that they had better get their butts started.

Run the emails through the keyword searchers supposedly able to do the job in Utah. That should eliminate at least 90%. Especially since Hillary claims that none contain classified information.

they can say whatever they want. the media won't call them on it EVER. Hillary took questions for the first time in MONTHS yesterday........not ONE QUESTION about the email scandal. not one. most of the questions were based in fawning praise. She has nothing to fear. they won't call her out on this.

But 75 years?

That summarizes your unquenchable thirst for all things government perfectly.

75 years is long enough so that two generations forget about it. It is the same thing we did with Japan after WWII.

No, they'd still have to read them and redact them regardless of what server they were on.

But 75 years?

At an average of 23 documents per day that is how long it would take. May not seem like a lot, but keep in mind how many different agencies have to go over each document and approve them. Also realize that they would be working on other things as well. There are countless freedom of information requests that are made every day. Do we have to put them all on hold for just this one? Maybe if you allowed them to hire some staff specifically for this project it could get done sooner, but then republicans would have to let government create jobs via regulation and of course that's a no-no.

Think about it.

If that's the chaotic mess that having a server outside the State Department has caused, is this not treason by it's very nature?

Writing them is easy, especially when they potentially have many many staff members. Having them each read, by multiple agencies and have them make decisions about what can be released and what must be redacted is a much more difficult job. Her staff likely also sent a lot of emails on weekends, where as the people doing the redacting likely wouldn't be working weekends.

Depending on if you count Clinton herself she would only need 10 aids to write 30 emails per day, seven days a week for 4 years to reach that total.

No. If they had been on the state provided public server, there would be no issue with Hillary's private server.

Having a server outside the State Department did not cause this. 450,000 emails would take forever to read regardless of what server they were stored upon.

That does not change the time spent on a freedom of information request. The Republican National Committee could file that request regardless of where the emails were stored. There is no particular reason the RNC needs them as a part of the investigation either. They're just trying to dig up dirt above and beyond what the internal investigation is already looking for. Which coincidentally is a good reason to have a private email server for personal correspondence with non-classified information. It would actually save some time on a freedom of information request by not requiring staff to sift through trivial nonsense.

It takes considerably less time to read an email than it does to write an email. I mean, you have no clue what you are talking about, you know that, right?

How long do you think these emails are on average? If the average email is 300 words, that is the equivalent of 1 page in an average novel per email. The average reader can read 200 words per minute, or 12,000 words per hour. One average reader should be able to read 40 emails per hour or 320 emails a day and 1,600 emails a week. A small contingent of six State Dept. staff would tear through 9600 pages a week and would be done within the year.

This is nonsense.

So basically, anybody in Washington can do anything they want as long as they destroy the emails. We won't piece it together for a century?

Are you serious?

This is a corrupt bitch who's busted, and the state department is playing political games of hide the sausage.
