North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

1/21/19
WASHINGTON — With a second U.S.-North Korea nuclear summit looming in February, researchers have discovered a secret ballistic missile base in North Korea — one of as many as 20 undisclosed missile sites in the country, according to the researchers’ new report. The Kim regime has never disclosed the existence of the Sino-ri Missile Operating Base to the outside world. Ballistic missiles are the primary delivery mechanism for North Korean nuclear warheads. The report from Beyond Parallel, a project sponsored by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a defense think tank, was released Monday and comes after an announcement Friday that President Donald Trump "looks forward" to meeting with Chairman Kim Jong Un next month "at a place to be announced at a later date." The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

"The North Koreans are not going to negotiate over things they don’t disclose," said Victor Cha, one of the authors of the report. "It looks like they’re playing a game. They’re still going to have all this operational capability," even if they destroy their disclosed nuclear facilities. Cha says the base is "clearly a mainstay of their strategic missile force," but there are no indications it is part of any discussions on denuclearization. Situated about 130 miles north of the DMZ, Sino-ri Missile Operating Base houses the headquarters for the Korean People’s Army Strategic Rocket Forces missile brigade, a unit responsible for ballistic missiles. The base has been central to developing ballistic missiles that are capable of reaching South Korea, Japan, and even Guam, according to the report. But a former senior U.S. official briefed on the current negotiations says administration officials and America's allies in the region are nervous that Trump will give up a lot without getting much, if anything, during the upcoming summit with Kim. Those concerns have escalated since Trump's Syria announcement on troop withdrawal after speaking with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey. Japanese officials in particular are "extremely nervous." "They’re incredibly uncomfortable," the former official said.

Let's face it, Trumps meet-up with Kim in February is just another photo-op with a nuclear dictator. They're stringing Trump along like a marionette.

But.....but Trump shook his hand awhile looking in his eyes! How could Kim so betray us?

Had to get in before some [censored] shows up with "but at least he tried! Obama didn't do anything", the first bit being laughable and the second false.

NK is doing NK's thing. The only thing that could stop them is China, and China still wants them to exist between it and SK. There is likely nothing we could give China in exchange that would make it worth it. The closest we could do is crash both our economies by magnifying Trump's trade war.

The situation remains that while the regime is evil, it is also only focused on survival. There is no incentive whatsoever for a first nuclear strike by NK. That would mean annihilation. Their nukes only become a threat if we decide to send our army in. But then, we can't very well go around conquering every country with an evil regime nor would it be in our national interest even if we did have the money and manpower.

The policy of the last few decades is the best you'll get in this geopolitical situation. However, I wouldn't put it past people to make everything a whole lot worse because principles n' stuff or something.

Dennis Rodman should be sent back in, he'll take care of it.

Prepare for another worthless PR effort which has KJU walking away with photos in front of US and NK flags and grinning handshakes with our own oversized orangoutang DonDon and said orangoutang announcing having ended the NK nuke crisis AGAIN.

"But But But...Donald, you said you ended it last time. Nobody with a brain believed it. But that is what you said."

Kim must be needing some new propaganda footage to keep his masses at bay. Only reason for them to meet as far as I can see.

Nobody knew North Korea could be so complicated.

I have a theorem about what in the world is going on here.

Allow me to paint a picture.

One aggravating factor throughout all this, is that it appears North Korea is facing food shortages and while that has been an endemic problem, it seems it was more severe than usual.

September 2017

North Koreans are likely to face serious food shortages despite recent relief from an intense dry spell, officials from the UN Food and Agricultural Organization told CNBC.

Rainfall this year was "considerably lower" than a corresponding period in 2001, when cereal production in the communist dictatorship plunged to record lows, the UN said in a July report. An estimated 20 percent of herd animals have also reportedly been severely affected this year in the worst-hit regions.

August 2018

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...rth-korea-as-crops-fail-in-heat-idUSKBN1KV0SI

The world’s largest disaster relief network warned of a risk of a “full-blown food security crisis” in the isolated country, where a famine in the mid-1990s killed up to three million people. It said the worrying situation had been exacerbated by international sanctions imposed due to North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs.

In a statement issued in Geneva, the IFRC said there had been no rainfall since early July as temperatures soared to an average 39 Celsius (102 Fahrenheit) across the country, whose official name is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). The next rain was expected in mid-August.

While the Regime was able to survive the famine of the 1990s, it may fear it cannot survive it a second time, lowering tensions in order to get further food imports from China may have been a factor.

https://www.scmp.com/news/china/dip...ise-chinese-food-exports-north-korea-starving

Chinese customs data showed a surge in exports of nearly 30 items, with corn increasing 32-fold from 400 tonnes to nearly 12,724 tonnes, bananas from just over 63.4 tonnes to 1,156 tonnes and wheat powder from less than 0.6 tonnes to 7.6 tonnes.

Spirit exports also more than quadrupled, rising from 2.1 million litres to 9.5 million in the second quarter compared with the previous year.

I have a theory though, that during the extreme tensions of late 2017, Trump was fully prepared to begin a conflict with North Korea:

https://www.economist.com/asia/2017/08/12/donald-trump-threatens-north-korea-with-fire-and-fury

American presidents used to brush off such bombast. Not so Donald Trump. Speaking off-the-cuff at one of his golf clubs, he chided North Korea for its threats, pledging to meet further provocations “with fire and fury like the world has never seen”. Even the hyperbole-prone hacks of the KCNA seemed to think this was a little strong. They accused America of “war hysteria” and ticked off the president for being “reckless”. Just hours later, the Korean People’s Army claimed to be “carefully examining” a strike on Guam, a Pacific island that hosts a large American military base.

https://www.cnn.com/2017/11/12/politics/us-navy-three-carrier-exercise-pacific/index.html

Hong Kong (CNN)The presence of three US aircraft carriers off the Korean Peninsula is pushing the region closer to nuclear war, according to a North Korean letter to the UN secretary-general.

The three carriers, the USS Ronald Reagan, Theodore Roosevelt and Nimitz, and their multiship strike groups are finishing up four days of exercises Tuesday in the waters between South Korea and Japan

Who knows what might have happened behind closed doors, but its not inconceivable that Trump seemed to serious to pursue it, that it may have made North Korea re-think its strategum, not just that but by the time you get to what history may call the "Olympic Thaw", their missile and Nuclear technology might have reached a level that it could conceivably deliver a nuclear weapon to American soil, changing the dynamic of the situation.

https://www.daytondailynews.com/new...h-makes-nuclear-power/kEJp8RX95xefB35rlWQXPM/

“The estimate has always been that they could hit most of the continental U.S.,” said Gary O’Connell, a retired chief scientist and former missile expert at the National Air and Space Intelligence Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. “I think they’ve now proven that.”

It may be the North Koreans realize they're dealing with someone who very well could take that leap and strike them, now, if you think that's a positive or negative, I don't know, I have always said perhaps a tougher and more stringent approach to North Korea may be necessary and certainly, Trump may be getting lured into a trap here, that they are trying to wait him out for a President perhaps not so eager to launch a conflict... But Trump is probably very likely getting played here, I mean for one of the most dangerous and morally reprehensible regimes on Earth to have (mostly) positive headlines in the international media for almost a year now, has legitimized itself with the Trump meeting last year, is not a small achievement for a country that nearly brought the Peninsula to the brink of war not even 2 years ago.

Which is precisely why Trump's bombast was just another con show for the easily duped. Keep on starving NK with sanctions and otherwise ignoring them. They'd never launch a first nuke strike on us or SK. They wouldn't start a shooting war with SK. The regime just wants to stay in power. And as evil as they are, we do not have the cash or manpower to get rid of every evil regime on Earth.

However, if we really were to go in first, NK might very well use nukes on a concentration of US troops, or on Seoul, or on Tokyo. And even if they didn't, China would yet again route troops into NK until we decided - yet again - that it wasn't worth WWIII to get rid of an evil but still tin pot dictator.

But, again, Trump knows you'll love him if he calls Kim some names and talks about explosions, but doesn't actually accomplish anything. So that's what he's doing, and what he's accomplishing. And you love him for it. So he was right. He's good at conning people, that's one thing, but only a minority of the population.

Not that you'll respond to this with anything worth reading....

Please list all the MISSILE/NUCLEAR TESTS BEFORE Trump CONFRONTED NOKO.

Here's the list of all of them SINCE he confronted them:
