The number the Bush administration is using is 50,000. However, there is a slight catch. There are not 50,000 available, so the most likely number of additional troops which will be sent to Iraq is somewhere between 20,000 and 30,000.

IMHO, this is Bush's last ditch increase of troops in Iraq, so he can tell others that at least he gave it a try before he started following James Baker and the Iraq Study Group's recommendations.
