Rep. Kinzinger: ‘It’s time’ for leaders to disavow QAnon

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) on Sunday emphasized the importance of President Donald Trump and other leaders calling out QAnon — a set of far-right conspiracy theories that allege the existence of a “deep state” against Trump. The representative, who posted a video on YouTube explaining QAnon on Sunday morning, said it’s time for other lawmakers to denounce the theories definitively and emphatically. While QAnon theories have circulated in recent years, they have gotten more attention recently since Marjorie Taylor Greene’s primary win Tuesday in Georgia’s 14th Congressional district. Greene has expressed support for QAnon theories, and Trump endorsed her candidacy. The president went so far as to call her a “future Republican star” following her primary win. She is heavily favored to win in November.

Speaking on CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” Kinzinger noted he supported Greene’s primary challenger in Georgia’s race. “I think up to maybe about a week ago there wasn’t a reason to denounce it because it didn’t need the attention, but now that it's made mainstream — we have a candidate that embraces it that won a primary,” he said. In a briefing last week, Trump sidestepped a question about Greene’s support for QAnon. Kinzinger said it’s time for the president and leading lawmakers to disavow it. “The president hasn’t fully denounced it or denounced it at all,” he said. “Now it's time for leaders to come out and denounce it.” He added that it’s not a partisan issue, and that both Democrats and Republicans “have to denounce extremism in their own party because that’s where it's effective.”

Donald Trump endorsed the Georgia primary victory of QAnon nut job Marjorie Taylor Greene. It is estimated QAnon has over a million adherents online.

Kudos to GOP Rep. Kinzinger for calling out the GOP silence regarding Greene.

Kinzinger Addresses Threats by the QAnon Network

Qnon is going to end up being a left-wing false flag operation. Wait. And. See.

Qnon is going to end up being a left-wing false flag operation. Wait. And. See.

That's your side's nuttery. Don't try to blame that on us.

Conservatives could start by calling out QAnon as complete nonsense and clearly state that it's not welcome in the party. Instead you're voting these people into office and the president is praising them.

That's right, because we said, "We don't think there's enough craziness and instability in the world. Let's add more crazy people so that it's even harder to have a straight conversation with our fellow Americans."

It wouldn't surprise me if 4chan was trolling us with QAnon.

4chan has trolled us a lot in the past.

So Republicans are now happily electing people who believe in "leftist conspiracy theories"? You gave them power, this is on you.

I voted for Jill Stein and this Qnon will end up being a left-wing false flag op. I should join 4chan. They sound much more interesting than democrats.

Neh! You folks own Antifa and BLM.

hell, that would make it worse for the old Tea Party and Republican folks who are the followers.

now, here's the real question...

what sane adult doesn't already know to disavow nut jobs??

Neh! You folks own Antifa and BLM.

There are millions of people on Facebook who belong to Q groups. How many "Antifa" members are out there? 5? 20? 100?

Irrelevant, since Antifa and BLM are causing all the violence.

Qanon, saw how easy it was for Russia to troll us into hate and fear, so they used the same MO. Right wingers are suckers. Tell them what they already fantasize, and you can get them to do anything.

QAnon isn't as big a threat of BLM and Antifa. QAnon isn't destroying property and attacking people. Lets start there with the "disavowing".

:applaud Thanks for posting that. Good to see that republicans like Rep. Kinzinger care, are based in reality and patriotic enough to speak the truth.

Agree, very true. I never knew how gullible and childish so many right wingers were until this administration. Pathetic mob, really. Thankfully some of them still love this country and are still capable of thinking and separating reality from fantasy.

i knew there was a ton. but, damn, i didn't know there were this many.

We'll wait and see you proven wrong. The stuff you guys tell each other is insane. The right is so full of conspiracy theories you guys don't even know what to believe yourselves.

Don't let the door hit ya' in the arse on the way out.

Well the president seems to be embracing her, soooo. The right will continue to swing to the right with their war on democrats. It's not bad enough that the tea party evolved into the freedom caucus, now the crazies want even more so they are about to put a Qanon supporter into the house. And people wonder why the R party is looked upon as racists? Really?

with all the massive lying coming from Limbaugh and Hannity, and with the way they paint all Democrats as the devil, how can their consumers not go deeper into the crazy hole?

What the base of the gop doesn't seem to understand, all that riling up has no effect other to have the R's vote against their own best interests believing they are 'owning the libs' by doing so.

All those poor republicans in the southern states or deep red states are being screwed by their leadership under the guise of protecting 'their' america.
