Another day.... Another corrupt democrat.

And people wonder why American's trust Republicans more than Democrats on the issue of corruption.

Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson violated rules, steered scholarships to relatives

By TODD J. GILLMAN and CHRISTY HOPPE / The Dallas Morning News

Longtime Dallas congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson has awarded thousands of dollars in college scholarships to four relatives and a top aide's two children since 2005, using foundation funds set aside for black lawmakers' causes.

The recipients were ineligible under anti-nepotism rules of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, which provided the money. And all of the awards violated a foundation requirement that scholarship winners live or study in a caucus member's district.

Johnson, a Democrat, denied any favoritism when asked about the scholarships last week. Two days later, she acknowledged in a statement released by her office that she had violated the rules but said she had done so "unknowingly" and would work with the foundation to "rectify the financial situation."

Initially, she said, "I recognized the names when I saw them. And I knew that they had a need just like any other kid that would apply for one." Had there been more "very worthy applicants in my district," she added, "then I probably wouldn't have given it" to the relatives.

I'd hate to get into a posting war about Dem v Rep corruption, Grim. But one does have to laugh at them when they get caught. Here's a gal with her hand in the cookie jar, and, with a straight face, says, "That wasn't my hand." Give me a break!

All politicians are corrupt to some level, but it looks like the democrats are trying to break some records or something. As for my comment about the public trust, that is based on the latest Rasmussen poll.

There is an old saying.. when living in a glass house, dont throw with stones.

John Ensign, under criminal investigation and yet, looks like he will get re-elected... let me guess, he aint a republican really?

Did I hear someone say "culture of corruption"?

LOL and the left keeps making **** up.

So you are denying that John Ensign is under criminal and ethics investigations? That the FBI is involved?

No more than you did when I posted that 100's of thousands attended the Beck rally.

So you are trying to bring that up in this thread? Start another thread and please try to provide proof of your comment. I chose not to respond since you got thread banned because of your reply to me.

This is about corruption among politicians. You attacked yet another democrat, but ignore constantly the GOP corruption. John Ensign has admitted certain questionable ethical actions, is under investigation for other ethical problems, and is even under FBI investigation, and a grand jury is in place. Where is your condemnation of him? Or are you like the other GOP hypocrites, defending him or just ignoring the very fact you have trash among you? And the fact that he is running for re-election as far as I know and looks like he is gonna win.. not a problem at all I guess?

And before you call me a hypocrite.. I condemn all corruption, left, right, Dem or Republican. If proven, then said politician should be kicked out of the party and his elected position. I also am highly critical of the whole freaking system that allows obvious corruption but is fully legal.

What's that got to do with the price of rice in China? Go start a thread about it and not try to derail this one... or go ahead, only a few will think you are making a valid point.

LMAO... It wouldn't have anything to do with the fact you lied would it?

Thank you for proving that my response that got me thread banned, was 100% accurate.

Have a nice day.

So you refuse to answer my question and instead try to derail your own thread by focusing on a confrontation in another thread... ahh guess I won yet again.

This woman sounds like a scumbag. It's one thing to use your position to enrich yourself and your family, but it's another to use your position to enrich yourself and your family at the expense of poor high school students hoping to go to college. The claim that she didn't know what she was doing is laughable.

Actually, she sounds just like her colleagues Waters and Rangel. No remorse, and no integrity what so ever.

This is the point I was trying to make in another thread. This isn't a one-sided issue. Or have we already forgotten that there were many people charged with corruption when Republicans were in control.

When one party gets power, corruption rears its ugly head.

The only way to eliminate it is to show all of them that they're not ensconced forever in their seat.

She needs to resign. But it would be better if those politicians that are in the gerrymandered districts that have been "safe" for both parties for decades on end all got tossed. There are only about 40 districts where the representative has to stay honest because their seat is truly at risk.

I'd be willing to bet that if you looked at those charged with corruption on both sides of the aisle, you'll find that nearly 100% of them come from these districts.

Going solely down a partisan road is just going to lead to corruption from the other side.

This isn't about party. It's about a system that is fragile and nearly broken.

What R's were convicted? Dems used a dumb Republican rule against them; it's why Delay left.
In August 2010, the United States Department of Justice notified DeLay that they were closing the case file against him without bringing an indictment.

The point I was making is the Dems claimed to eliminate a culture of corruption and... ROTFLOL...

Actually, though, isn't the fact that charges are being brought up against Democrats by a Democratically-led ethics commission proof that they are at least attempting to clean up corruption?

But I'm not really trying to defend Democrats. What I'm saying is that it is the SYSTEM that is corrupt and that corrupts those in power.

And Delay is still up for state charges. Don't forget that. And Jack Abramoff, regardless of whether Delay was involved to a criminal degree, was still a major player in Republican circles.

This doesn't justify Democratic corruption. It just points to a broken system, moreso than a broken party.

He had a record of one before he went to DC. He worked with Ted Kennedy... but when Dems send troops to war and then turn their backs on them... stabbing them in the back when they needed their support most, you really don't have an honorable or trustworthy opponent to work with.

I prefer he didn't say it, frankly I wish he said he was going to repeal your sides damage.

Oh, I wasn't looking at your name. I thought you were someone else and your overt partisanship was shocking. Then I looked again.

All Republicans are good. All Democrats are evil and should go to jail right now.

Got it. I'll leave you back to your little fantasy world.

Never said that, and again... nice try.

I was simply stating those that accused the R's of a culture of corruption have corruption all over their face.

Also a cute response the Abramoff portion of my thread.

This is what we call, attack the messenger, don't debate the subject honestly tactic.
