Remington Arms declares bankruptcy despite surging gun demand

in the current political climate, caused by people with politics such as yours and Biden, many gun owners won't tell an anonymous caller if they own a gun

In today's society, I would be embarrassed to admit I am a gun owner. It really shows.... insecurity. A lot of people that own or carry guns are compensating for a lack of something in their life.

Why does it show "insecurity".

What it shows is the willingness to provide for one's own security.

Seems to me like I heard somewhere that many of those old SKS's had some quirk about what you cleaned them with that greatly affected how well they shot. They were trendy in our area as people just liked that spray and pray as they were drinking their 6 pack (and by 6 pack I mean case) on a Saturday afternoon shooting at whatever random junk was in their yard.

The condition I bought the SKS was not the best. I looked like it had been extensively used. I ended up replacing the wood stock with a synthetic stock because the wood stock was in really bad shape. I blamed its in accuracy on both the rifle and the ammo I was using at the time. I was using Wolf ammunition, which looked like the rounds were coated in a varnish of some kind. After firing two or three rounds the barrel would be fouled with that stuff.

I don't drink and shoot. I like to be as accurate as possible, and alcohol never helps in that regard.

You old geezers aren't taking the kids shooting, looks like.

Yeah.. two things.

one.. the poll is about who is willing to tell an unknown person.. ."yeah, I have a gun"..

Which is tantamount to telling an unknown person "why yes.. I have jewels and cash in my house"...

Secondly... the population in 1970.. was dramatically LOWER than in 2014. And so.. the reality is that there are far far far more people with firearms in this country.. then their were in 1970.

So you think that people responding to the polls are prone to give false answers towards HAVING a gun....so in actual fact, people have even LESS guns than polls show ?

What has he size of the population in 1972 got to do with it ?

We're talking about proportion.

Remington Arms declares bankruptcy despite surging gun demand | Fox Business

This is great news. These types of companies shouldn't exist for profit. The government needs to take over Remington, Smith & Wesson, Sturm, Ruger, Sig Sauer, etc....

Alcoholic beverage control states still exist to regulate the sale of alcohol. IMO all states need to control the sale of firearms.

It’s obvious that they can’t control their spending, so that’s going to happen. The funny line in you story is “even as fearful Americans buy more guns”. That tells you something about where they might have been putting their money.

To file bankruptcy during a spike in sales...

I would not claim capitalism's natural rate of unemployment to be an efficient allocation of resources. This is one area where socialism can optimize capitalism for the general welfare.

A true value of a good or service is attained by S&D.

Efficiency of economics - Goods and services produced based on demand create incentives to cut costs and avoid waste.

The management must have totally screwed up the financial management, loans, interest rates, pay back periods etc.

I smell a takeover or merger.

This smells just like the failure of the NRA due to stupid politicking and sales propaganda. In a way I'm kind of glad to see this because other gun manufactures and their lobbyists will be on alert that jig is really up now and we should all just go back to enjoying sport shooting and collecting of historical relics.

Not sure how you can say it's a failure of the NRA

More like poor management and products.
