Remembering 9/11

I was in NYC that morning, on my way to an office that was literally one block away from the WTC. There are so many images from that day that I will never, ever forget.
I'm sorry. I was on the other side of the world, still young, living with my parents. It was night time here and I saw it unfolding on the TV. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. So distressing. Sincere condolences to you all.

One thing terrorists never seem to consider is "will the response to this action make things worse for my people?"

In the case of the 9/11 attacks and more recently the Hamas attack on Israeli citizens the answer is a resounding 'no'.

Which leads me to the conclusion that these terrorists have no real motivation to improve the lives of the people they purport to help. They just want to kill.

Has it really been that long ago? I still remember it like it was yesterday. Turning on the TV and, like watching a movie, a plane hits the tower.
It took a while to realize that this was real. Real people jumping off buildings.

Doesn't seem that long ago.

I was on vacation in Gatlinburg, and walking around town that morning took a few minutes to notice every TV in every shop was tuned to the same thing, and then paid attention to realise what was happening.

Me as well. But the one that has always stood out for some reason is that of a woman in business suit running for her life barefoot, her high heel shoes in one hand.

Strange that of all the things I saw that

I was in a construction camp in Fort McMurray, Alberta, working nights. I was padding down the hall to take a pee and a guy watching TV with his door open said, "Take a look at this!"

A day that united us all. What a completely different country we live in now.
