Remember When Republicans Wanted to Stand Up to Putin?

No longer. Nowadays they project admiration for Putin's undemocratic authoritarianism and publicly sow disunity within NATO.

That's because they've picked a Democrat to run as their candidate for president, and that candidate doesn't want to honor NATO.

It's not the job of the U.S. to stand up to Putin blindingly. Just like it's not the U.S. job to support Syrian "rebels", this isn't Star Wars.

NATO is a garbage organization just like the UN. Why is Turkey in NATO? It makes no sense and it shows just how unwieldy of an organization NATO is right now.

Why does Turkey let the US use their nation as a base from which to attack Isis? It's a sort of uneasy alliance we have with Turkey, but the fact is we need them and they need us.

Yes. Yes, I think it was when Obama was doing or saying anything with regards to Putin that they thought we weren't "standing up" enough.

We gave all hope of standing up to Putin when we elected our current president. Like entering a Chihuahua into a dog fight against a pit bull.

I thought that was the previous president?

When Georgia invaded South Ossetia, and Russia intervened. The US backed away from helping Georgia

Turkey is using the U.S. forces as a backstop to fighting the KURDS. The U.S. has no interests in actually destroying ISIS.

That's funny, seeing as we're actively bombing them.

If the US was actively seeking to bomb and get rid of ISIS, then ISIS would have been degraded before Russia started to bomb them. Given the assets the US has in comparison to Russia, ISIS should have been reduced to its current state long ago, had that been the primary goal of the US. Rather then the elimination of the Syrian government

ISIS has been degraded. Quite a bit, actually, seeing as air strikes alone have never been able to win a war.

Of course

But the degradation occurred primarily at least in Syria after the Russians started bombing. Russia was working with the Syrian government to move ground troops in

An interesting take by Eli Lake, who is not an impartial journalist. I'd love to learn the nexus of the Russia meme liberal/socialist progressives have launched. Maybe Gucifer 2.0 can do some digging, because it is laughable to the extreme.

I suppose payback for the birther issue in '08 is to be expected.

The silly season is upon American Politics.

You got to admit the Republicans are a hypocritical, confused bunch. For 8 years they've screamed and criticized Obama a million times for being a 'thin skinned narcissist with LITTLE government experience'. So to prove that the GOP turns to Trump, who is more thinned skinned, more narcissistic, and has absolutely NO government experience. lol

Can't make this stuff up.
