It would be nice if Kirk Cousins wanted to be one of the great Redskins quarterbacks. Kirk seems to be just interested in the biggest salary.
Kirk might have more completions near the end of games, if he had a softer touch on the pass.
The Offensive Line and the Receives may be giving Kirk statistics that are better than his actual talent.
Many news articles say it is important for the Redskins to keep Kirk Cousins. I am not sure,

Kirk Cousins is as loyal to the Redskins as the NFL system permits him to be. Two record-setting seasons should equal a positive overture from the team. He will win a Super Bowl. I hope it is with the Redskins.
Trade Options for Redskins on Kirk Cousins
"Multiple reports indicate that the 49ers will hire Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan as their head coach after Super Bowl LI. The potential hire has led to speculation that Shanahan, who spent two seasons as Cousins’ offensive coordinator in Washington, wants the Redskins quarterback for his new team.
This situation is reminiscent of 1988, when the Redskins traded Jay Schroeder to the Raiders for offensive tackle Jim Lachey.
Schroeder was 22-6 as a Redskins starter after taking over for Joe Theismann, who shattered his leg in 1985. In 1986, Schroeder threw for 4,109 yards with 22 touchdown passes and 22 interceptions. The Redskins went 12-4 before losing in the NFC championship to the Giants, who went on to win the Super Bowl."

IMHO it would be a terrible mistake to trade him and that would discourage other top FA's from coming to Washington as well.
Redskins GM, Scot McCloughan, has reportedly taken some time off work. Hope things get back on track.
Redskins extend Gruden's Contract, though 2020.
"Going into the fourth year of a five year contract, questions would soon start for Redskins head coach Jay Gruden about his contract situation. Rarely does a coach work in the last year of a deal, though it seems the Redskins have avoided all of that.
CSN confirmed that Washington agreed to a two-year extension for Jay Gruden, marking the first coach in owner Dan Snyder's tenure to reach a contract extension with the club. Redskins officials were not immediately available for comment.
The report was origanlly reported by John Keim of ESPN.
Since a season ending loss to the New York Giants on January 1, the 'Skins have been thrust into turmoil. General manager Scot McCloughan is not with the team at the NFL Scouting Combine, and the future of quarterback Kirk Cousins and the team remains up in the air."

"INDIANAPOLIS — The Washington Redskins agreed late Saturday on a two-year contract extension through the 2020 season with coach Jay Gruden, a person with knowledge of the deal told USA TODAY Sports.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team hadn't announced the deal.
Gruden had two years remaining on the five-year contract he signed when he took the job in 2014."

The move keeps the coach under contract through the 2020 season and provides some stability as NFL free agency approaches.

And then the Skins fire their GM today.
Dumpster fire.
Certainly not a positive development. Fans are in revolt.
"The Washington Redskins power structure was dramatically altered -- or at least finalized -- Thursday night. The reality is, the team's setup as it stands now has been in place for a couple of weeks as the drama surrounding general manager Scot McCloughan built, culminating in his firing.
The question now becomes: How will they replace him? It’s not certain they will hire someone as general manager. It could be just another personnel guy, someone to provide input. There have been reports they already had started calling around before McCloughan was absent from the scouting combine. The most likely timetable is to hire someone after the draft.
Only after Washington makes a hire will it be clear how much power that person has over the roster or any personnel decisions -- or if the new hire is just be another set of eyes to evaluate talent and provide input."

One conflict between Allen and Scot was the emphasis on talent for offense, or defense. Cousins had great receivers. That makes it hard to evaluate Cousins for long term. How will Cousins do with less excellent receivers? What is Cousins actually worth, long term?

Terrell McClain reminds me of Jason Hacher.
"Washington also cut ties with defensive lineman Jason Hatcher. Hatcher mentioned the possibility of retiring after the Redskins playoff loss to Green Bay, but apparently the 'Skins could not wait for that decision.
Hatcher posted a message on his Instagram feed thanking Washington owner Dan Snyder and the organization for his time with the team. Signed to a four-year, $27.5 million contract after the 2013 season, Hatcher did not deliver much on the field in his two seasons with the Redskins. Releasing Hatcher will save the team more than $4 million against the salary cap, though if he retired the team would have recouped almost double that amount.
In two seasons with Washington, Hatcher amassed 7.5 sacks and 45 tackles. Coach Jay Gruden and GM Scot McCloughan often talked about Hatcher's leadership in the locker room as very valuable, but in the end, Hatcher's age (he will be 34 in July) and diminished play led to the team's decision."
