Niiiice recovery! I'm feelin't it. Is anyone else??

Whatever happened to recovery summer?

This was supposed to be the season the economy heated up, thanks to a wave of public works projects, funded by the government's stimulus program. But summer is coming to an end, and the recovery has not taken root. Forecasters are expecting another gloomy employment report on Friday.

What is it with this entitlement mentality where people think that they deserve to have jobs?

Yeah, that damn working class! Who the hell do they think they are, building and suporting this country, vice sitting on the porch waiting for a government hand out?

Psst. I think you missed the joke.

Obama has proven my assertion that as long as you have you head firmly planted up you backside it's impossible to see where you're going but it gives you hind sight when you remove it.

It's always foolish to create a hopeful label foe anything when your doing everything you can to keep it from happening, as Obama has done, but it's been part of his Bs to always claim the opposite of what he's doing. His track record is at least consistent in that regard.

Looking at the links below the NPR article gives some insight as to why it has been a jobless recovery.....

Small-Business Credit Bill Clears Senate Hurdle : NPR
"The 61-37 vote clears the way for legislation to create a $30 billion fund to help open up lending."

Small businesses haven't been able to expand or hire more employees because they can't get loans. The bank bailout helped the banks, but the banks aren't helping the economy because they aren't lending to small businesses or new home buyers.

The good news is, thanks in large part to the stimulus bill, teachers still have a job and kids still have a school to go to. As a result, retail sales were up in August because of back to school buying.....

August Retail Sales Up More Than Expected : NPR
"The advance was the latest indication the economy is regaining its footing after a dismal spring."

Uncertainty about the economy is keeping many people from making large purchases and investments (cars, vacations, remodeling, etc.) But I think if Obama can keep the economy steady then even small economic growth will help bring back some consumer confidence over the long haul. And with consumer confidence comes spending and investment.

The notion that we would have instant recovery after a near economic collapse was extremely unrealistic, especially when every attempt to speed it along has been blocked by political games and ideology. But if this recession has proven anything, it's that de-regulation and tax cuts for the wealthy doesn't create jobs, it destroys them.

I hope the recovery summer will turn into the recovery autumn and set a whole gaggle of Socialist Democrats in the House and Senate free to join those that enjoyed the "recovery summer".

And... a... but, but, but... they saved (insert your fantasy number) jobs; had they not acted things would have been much, much worse... ROTFLOL...
