You certainly called their motivation correctly. They do give us what we want to hear for the advertising bucks.. Maybe it's time we changed what we want to hear. It does seem more than coincidental that the period of time when we stopped listening to each other was about the same time Big News began telling us, we were all either Nazi's or Communists. I would love a true news network reporting stories on the Cali. fires, the Mars shot, or other of the many underreported stories.
I also think that the two big parties see what we're watching and tailor their message's accordingly.
For myself, I know the Republicans are heartless and the Democrats want to give away America. I've heard it enough.
Let's move to a different story, even if it is politics, give it one place and go back to informing us of the rest of the world around us.

Yes, exactly. What has happened over the years is cable news has taken sides in our political battles. They no longer just report on those battles, but report on them in a way that makes whichever side they are on look great, make the other side look like the devil reincarnated. They tell us what to think, what to make of the news, whose side we should be on and if we're a NAZI or a Communist as you stated.

reporting the news accurately, fully and fairly has flown out the window a long time ago. You're correct, there is a ton of other news outside the political spectrum that deserve reporting on. In a 24 hour networks, surely there plenty of time to cover everything to includes Mars and the fires in California. It seems though, each want to spend their 24 hours being either pro or anti Trump. Reporting on the Mars landing or the fires or the snow blizzard isn't going to change your mind about politics and how you vote. The cable news networks are trying to manipulate its viewers. In an earlier era, it would be called brainwashing.

I hardly never turn on cable news anymore, one is a propaganda wing of the Republicans, the other two propaganda wings of the Democrats. It's no wonder that trust in our main stream media is at an all time low.

So maybe we're beginning to wake up? Maybe not though.

RTV only consists of one vote but that one vote can be transferred
:doh
One vote / one person
Multiple choices for one position = multiple votes and possible effect

Transferred? I don't like that. That seems too subjective. I would much prefer a second run-off with top vote getters, even if they were of the same party. I believe we need a real challenge to the big two party's. Those folks are getting very, very good at scientific campaigning, but fall very short of delivering anything their party bosses don't approve.

If you are referring to two-round voting, that may remove the spoiler effect but third parties won't really have a better chance of winning.

Perhaps, but we can't know that. Who would ever have thought a socialist would be elected? I would really prefer a blind ballot. I don't care about the party you represent as much as I care of what you realistically offer as a person representing me. Is that wrong?
