Hi, this is my first attempt at a Debate in these Forums. I thought I should start with something that I've experianced personally.

I'll be 22 in exactly one week from now. I remember my elementary and Junior High life, and it was miserable.

I live in a small town where the majority is black. We are sort of segregated, but people can live anywhere they can afford, and we all went to the same public schools of course.

Now in Kindergarden, everything was peaceful, we didn't know anything was wrong, and my best friend through second grade was black, and she was really nice. In second grade though, she transferred to the "other" public school. (there was one for blacks and one for both and all the money went toward the other one).

Up until 3rd grade, I was in the A class, and only about 2 black kids were in there. In third grade, we got a new scumbag principle (and this is NOT the reason he's a scumbag) who was married to a black teacher (nothing wrong with that...) and because the white kids were in the A and B classes and the black kids were in the C class, he thought that "wasn't fair" so he refused to sort us by test scores and instead mixed us up and made ALL the teachers slow down and teach what the C class teachers taught.

Now there is a mixed up class and what's the first thing we learn? You guessed it...The Civil War, and Slavery Emphasis. In Fourth Grade, there was this horrible black girl, who decided to bully me because I was blind. But what do the words white and honkey have to do with being blind?

Fast forward to sixth grade, Jr high. She's still at it and now joined by a black boy. Not to mention our English teacher - note: I said ENGLISH - instead took it upon herself to teach black history, including the black National Anthem, and she allowed students to express their torment by randomly yelling out stuff like "honkey" and "white trash" during her lessons.

The two bullies turned physical (the boy tripping me and the girl punching the wind out of me as I was standing up from doing situps in gym) so I did the only thing I could: drop out.

I went to a very small school in the next town, and things only got worse. I was the only white girl in the class this time. (but there were about four white boys who hung out with me) It was so small that the 7th and 8th grade had class together. Now all the teachers were black, and there were three I really liked and 2 I really disliked. Our Home Ec teacher was a nutcase for reasons I won't get into unless someone asks. But, she actually went around the classroom individually asking each student whether or not we'd date someone from the other race. You could feel the tention, and it was sickening. I don't believe that was any of her business at all, was it? We're in the south for gosh sake, and we were 13 years old! I wasn't discusted, I was terrified of being called a rascist and being beaten up for being honest - I'm just not attracted to black people. I said so, and I think they called me a rascist for the rest of the day.

The black kids would skip the good teachers' classes saying the country owed them and learning was for white people, and they'd just use AA to get ahead when they grew up.

~

Now we live in a world where if you tell someone you've been racially harassed by a black person it's ignored or turned around on you. I dropped out period and started homeschooling because of the lunacy that kept happening at that school, I couldn't even list it all.

They acted as if it was their right to torture us now that they were the majority. But they've got the wrong generation. I'm half-blind for gosh sake, I don't hate black people, but the way they acted made me sick. My parents warned me as it was happening that black people still hate white people, even though slavery is over, but you shouldn't hate them for it. So I'm nice to anyone I meet, and now that I'm grown up people are normal.

But do y'all think that that is justified and fair? I'm not coining it reverse-racism because that says that white people are the default racists and we aren't.

They seriously should teach the civil war in college, that would keep racial tention out of elementry school...>_<

Certainly racial intimidation is not fair. Often the thing it breeds in those that are intimidated is more racism. An ethnicity, striving towards equality by being allowed to stamp on the rights of another ethnicity continues the cycle of predjudice and often leads to hatred. I have seen or experienced this on both sides white on black and black on white. No matter how you cut it, this kind of thing demeans both groups.

I'm sorry to hear that your upbringing (schoolwise) was so rough. Congrats on being able to succeed despite it. And happy early birthday, too.

Thanks. :) I mean it's almost like their parents taught them it was all right to do that. I thought we were supposed to be trying to be peaceful. What in the world kind of mixed message is that to give kids? And the black teachers seemed to fuel it. Kids shouldn't be afraid of any teacher. Oh yeah, I can't even believe I forgot to say that most teachers in the smaller school, including the Home Ec teacher, did not have any teaching degree. They just hired anyone for that school since it was sort of a school for misfits...

I'm sorry about the trouble you had with racial discrimination and harrassment. It's nice to hear someone be honest and admit that racial harrassment in public schools is predominately one-way... with blacks harrassing whites (or Asians, hispanics, etc.)

Yes, the liberal academic environment has to keep alive the victim mentality of blacks, in order to keep them firmly on the Dem plantation. I'm sorry you were victimized to further their political goals.

I'm grateful that you guys seem to agree with me so far. I was a bit nervous about it, for obvious reasons. I thought it just might have been my area where this happened since there's no talk of it anywhere else, and according to society black people aren't rascist, but then...what was THAT called?

Don't worry... if you stick around you'll find many liberals who will attack you as "racist" if you dare criticize black culture or the behavior of blacks. Sometimes they'll gang up on you. Just remember that, even if we're outnumbered, there are others who agree with you.

Happy Birthday by the way. Tomorrow is my birthday. I'll be 42...

Don't agree that it is predominately one-way. Having worked with kids for along time, I've seen both.

And your evidence of this?

Racism is racism, regardless of who exhibits it. I've seen both white and black racists, and it's absurd to think that the latter don't exist.

i agree. and unfortanetly racism is still around. im glad you were able to get through it.....

And your evidence of this?

If I may say so, I believe he said that because of what the principal did to us, ruined our curriculum and slowed it waaaaay down because most of the blacks were in the C class. That's evidence, isn't it?

I did hear my state's public schools are the worst in the country, learning-wise...

Well, yes in regards to your story that is correct. But on a national level that trend continues. The facts are clear (though libs will blame the problems on white racism rather than doing what MLK urged and judging blacks on the contents of their character). The schools and school systems with the lowest acheivement levels are in the cities and districts with the highest black populations. Not surprisingly (though the libs will scream) the decay of our public schools began at the same time as Brown vs. Board of Education called for the end of segregation, and with forced busing to acheive integration.

The stats of violence are part of the public record. Black youths share the same traits as black adults. In 2004 (the last year records were available), blacks made up about 13% of the US population, but committed 59% of the felony murders in the US. The leading cause of death among white men aged 18-40 is accidents--the leading cause of death among black men aged 18-40 is being murdered by other black men. A full 70% of black children are raised out of wedlock, by a single mother.

These are internal problems the black community must face. Dems give them an easy solution--blame white racism. Which keeps alive the victim mentality of blacks, keeps them in a perpetual state of anger against whites, and keeps them voting solidly democratic. Again, not surprisingly, blacks who actually accomplish something in the world (outside of rap or sports) make up the 10% (and growing) blacks who are Republican.

Ahhhh... That sounds like what Bill Cosby said. Bill Cosby is awesome, I really like him and all his shows. ^^

i wonder what can be done to reach the others? i mean if 10% of african americans will vote republican, what can be done to let the others see? and does the NAACP actually help out the situation?

Uhmm...no, that's not what I was responding to.

This is what I wanted evidence for. His claim that it's all the liberals fault. I am not disputing what happened to you.

Oh, I'm sorry... I thought that the principal thing was an example of what he said... Sorry for misunderstanding...:(

Nevermind then.

The NAACP is merely a wing of the Democratic Party.

Don't apologize. What your principal did is a perfect example of the "liberal academic" culture I was talking about. The success of white students MUST be sacrificed to promote their agenda.

I was a victim of it myself, though 20 years before you. Unfortunately, things have gotten worse and not better in that time.

It's OK, no harm done.

What your principal did was not an example of 'liberal academic culture' (which is nothing more than biased rheotric with no substantiation). It was an example of poor educational leadership and decision-making.

does this remind anyone of "NO Child Left Behind"?

It sounds like it would be named that, but I'm not sure what Bush's No Child Left Behind is. When I first heard of it, I asked if that was what Mr. <blank> did and I think my mom said it was different. Can someone tell me what exactly that is please?

My siblings both are in a Charter school now, thank goodness and they have this strange 14 point system or something, is that it?

that sounds like a great school system. more black history does need to be taught and yes whites need to be feel uncomfortable since you guys are the ones who did everything to make things the way they are now.
let me also add that this seems like a "pity me i was the only white one amongst all those blacks and they bullied me so it's okay for me to be racist" rants. i don't pity you one bit.
if you think that was bad on the smaller scale, imagine how it must feel to have it happening to you on the larger scale.

Crap.

Adults take responsibility for their lives. People like you keep the majority of blacks in perpetual childhood (and dysfunction) by playing the "po me" game. Blacks today have never experienced slavery... none under 40 have experienced "institutional racism". Their problems lay within themselves and their culture and no place else.

Firstly, can you show anywhere where Southern Belle expressed any overt racism. Seems like you are the racist one unless you can prove it. Unless you missed it, sounds like she was bullied for no reason other than her race. Sounds like bigottry and predjudice to me. Also, doesn't sound like she was asking for pity, considering that she has survived this situation; sounds like she is asking for other to understand what happened to her. Doesn't matter whether it happened to one person, or one entire group of people; it's wrong and if you can't see or acknowledge that, then you are part of the problem.

of course you are right. more black history does need to be taught, and yes whites did do some things that made things the way they are today. we brought you from africa, made you slaves for say 150 years, died in the hundreds of thousands to FREE you, finally got through the Civil Rights, gave you the basic rights you should have had all along, plus more rights that white people are not intitled to, gave you Affirmative Action- which is just not fair nor is it equal.
oh, and if it was one black person being picked on like that, it would be racism, and probably sent to court. but its only a white person, right? so who cares, right Unfair??? how about the millions of white people who experience racist blacks and know that 1) the system does not help whites in this, it only helps the minorites and 2) that there is nothing a white person can do to change it
