I've rejected Governor Chris Christie many times before but he's in it to tear DJT apart and I'm down with that! He'll not win the party's nomination but as long as we finally get to see someone stand up to DJT and shred him to pieces, we deserve this to happen.

Fmr. Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) on Tuesday declared his intention to run for president in 2024 at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire. In a speech focused on politicians trying to make America "smaller," Christie called former President Donald Trump "a lonely, self-consumed, self-serving mirror hog."

"The person I am talking about, who is obsessed with the mirror, who never admits a mistake, who never admits a fault, who always finds someone else and something else to blame for whatever goes wrong — but finds every reason to take credit for anything that goes right — is Donald Trump,"
Christie said.

"There's a big argument in our country right now about whether character matters, and we have leaders who have shown us over and over again that not only are they devoid of character, they don’t care," he said. "We can’t dismiss the question of character anymore, everybody. If we do, we get what we deserve, and we will have to own it."

I like Christie's message but, come on, Biden can't pull this country together when half of it hates the other half. The mere fact that Christie can say something like this logically, and won't get close enough to touch the podium that Trump will be standing on in 24' tells me his party isn't what he thinks it is either, it's MAGA now. He's about to see for himself why Biden couldn't bring it together. Nobody can bring MAGA to compromising positions. The proof will be in the pudding.

And yes, it's a shame.

Those who need to hear this will just plug their ears and call him a RINO.
Yep! Those who understand what he's saying already voted Biden in. That was the only option MAGA's left them in 2020, and it will be the only option they leave them in 2024.

He's working on trashing the cowards, too. He used Voldemort to describe their not mentioning Trump, "He who shall not be named".

100% right. He's trumps Conan the barbarian! He's gonna tear the orange demon to shreds, and I for one am very much looking forward to it! LONG OVERDUE!

From what I saw, I don't know if he slammed him hard, seemed like a bitch slap.

Oh it's going to get good....Trump has already started on Christie's weight....people in glass houses lol

The GOP Primary season will be like kindergarten recess.

Early days.
We have not even got to the debates, the first will probably be in August, what a shit show that will be.

Trump says he may skip the early debates. If his challengers start closing the poll gap, he will show. Besides, the diva in him can't stand sharing the spotlight, he is VERY predictable in that regard.

Even if indicted the rubes will vote for him in the primaries.

It's cute how a few Republicans here believe DeSantis is going to save them from the inevitable, Trump as the GOP 2024 nominee.

I suppose even those going down with the Titanic held out hope until the last.

If Christie actually gets into the debates with Trump and the other Republican nominees, he will probably also go after the other nominees for supporting MAGA's views. That could put even more heat on the whole party. He has a snowball's chance in hell of winning the nomination, but I would like to see him stir things up. He is a bloviating narcissist just like Trump, so this could get interesting.

I would luv to see Christie nail Trump on the debate stage over Jan 6.

I would even pay an admission price

Governor Christie's roll in this will be as a wrecking ball that will not be parked in the oval office. That's the part I liked about C Christie jumping in on this. Out of everyone else stepping onto the RNC stage, he's the only one showing huff and puff balls to verbally rip DJT apart and I hope they meet face o face a dozen times if possible - just to see how long Christie might hold out when trading angry spit at each other. I'm sensing that DJT has really gotten under Chistie's skin in the recent past - like it's personal.

The more the merrier - as this thread will serve to expose the coming Christie - DJT aggressions towards each other during this campaign season. Might be fun to pick when Christie may drop out of this rabid dog fight.

A special treat will be if Christie uses his savvy prosecutorial smarts when attacking DJT in the open. DJT is already shaken in a huge way by special prosecutor Jack Smith - the very quiet Jack Smith. Wait until we get a chance to hear Christie's fast-talking mouth lower a few booms onto DJT's head. Too be honest, I'm a little turned on by it.

As long as he has money, he will stay in.

Nailed it.

That'll be an ongoing development in the coming months ahead - how many deep pocket donors contribute to Christie's rebellious cause.

I agree. The ironic thing is that if Trump weren’t in the picture, his trashing of MAGA policies would likely make him more electable in the general election. The GOP is in the unfortunate position of having to cater to two diametrically opposed groups: MAGA conservatives in the primaries and moderates and Independents in the general. The latter outnumber the former, but not by enough to make a third party MAGA candidate irrelevant.

I would call this walking a tightrope, but I don’t think that adequately conveys what an impossible task that is. No single candidate can win one group without alienating the other. Republicans’ only hope is that Donald Trump drops dead and the Republican nominee completely flip flops their position between the primary and the general. I have no doubt any Republican candidate is capable of that kind of hypocrisy, but I’m not sure if any of them can be convincing enough to pull enough votes in the general election to unseat Joe Biden.

Some of it has a nice ring to it but it is all too rehearsed. I don't quite buy into this about Biden.
And, instead, what he decided to do was to take his groups and divide them even smaller and actively pit them against Republicans. To paint all Republicans with just one brush,
Biden seems to separate Rs from Magas, isn't he?
