One of the few commonalities among all conservatives is that they prefer the predictable and dependable over new experiences. Liberals, of course, have the opposite preference.

So your question is: why do you feel such hostility to people who are more open to new experiences than you are?

Stupid question.

Framed push question that wants to arrive at a predetermined answer. Please rephrase your question and check your assumptions at the door.

Of the few commonalities between all liberals they're all tree hugging, gun hating pinko commies. Why do you feel that way?

Put (slightly?) another way: Cons say if it ain't broke then don't fix it, while libs say let's try to have the federal government fix it (the predictable and dependable?) anyway.

One of the worst questions asked of conservatives to date...

I don't. Just stop trying to push that off onto me.

Which would be ok, if they weren't so hell bent on everyone being tree hugging, gun hating pinko commies.

Bingo!

If your whole shtick is that everyone has to do everything your way or you'll use government to put them in their place you just might be a pinko, commie, gun hating liberal.

That's 100% of my disagreement with Liberalism.

Most liberals don't expect everyone to do everything their way, though.

Very true! They actually seem to enjoy it when people do things their own way because that gives them another opportunity to use government to make that damned individualist stop.

Are you implying that it's fine to harm other people in the name of individualism?

As your premise is deeply flawed, You do not appear qualified to ask the question. Nor are you qualified to assign emotions to people you do not know. Do you carry keys of any kind? Do you have windows, or a door or fence around your domicile? Just wondering. If you do not have any of those then you might at least not be a hypocrite..

Stupid question.

It’s a stupid question if you haven’t the intelligence to appreciate it.

Conservatives can feel threatened by the breadth and openness that defines the liberal mind.

Enjoyed the video - always liked this guy (his family roots in old California)

Great. So if someone isn't harming anyone through his/her individualism, I for one would not be interested in using government to forbid such behavior.

What makes you think that most or all liberals would be?

Interesting.

Why is it that you seem to believe that liberals tend to be independent thinkers and actors while "all conservatives" share certain commonalities such as a preference for the status quo? If liberals tend to embrace diversity of opinion then why is it you seem to believe that conservatives do not?

First, you didn't answer the original question.

Second, it's because my conclusions are based on people with philosophically conservative - or philosophically liberal - beliefs. Not on partisanship, and not on tribalism, which the first responders in this thread so eagerly embrace.

I didn't answer the original question because it was a leading question based on a false premise.

While I don't necessarily agree that every conservative shares this commonality, the question is worth raising.

A preference for prudent behavior over recklessness is a recognition that certain kinds of risky conduct is not desirable nor admirable. Liberals consider this negative judgment of recklessness as an attack on their affection for "new experiences", a personal judgement on them as people (failing to appreciate the difference between hostility to an idea to hostility to a person).

Conservatives only tend to be hostile to liberals as people when they attempt to force their affection for the unpredictable and undependable on conservatives through collective action.

Messianic liberals, naturally, can't stand the thought of others hating their imposition of missionary zealotry, and end up asking questions like that of the op.

Apologies; I was referring to this question:

Surely you're not trying to imply that conservatives never attempt to force their affection for the predictable on liberals?
