And, yes, as I stated to CA, their would have to be multiple smoking guns.
 
Impeachment is a political process, not a criminal proceeding. It is the process by which a president or other federal officer can be removed from office. There is no sentencing phase of an impeachment conviction. The 'defendant' is simply removed from office. If the government is so inclined, it may proceed with a criminal indictment if necessary, barring a presidential pardon (ala Ford/Nixon).
