Quarterback Selections for the Washington Admirals?

150 top draft picks, all QB's left at no 11, for the Admirals

Defense, Offensive Line, and WR more important than QB.

"On the offensive side of the ball, teams looking for quarterback saviors will have options, though it remains to be seen whether or not there's a bonafide No. 1 passer to emerge before the draft: North Carolina's Sam Howell was the latest to declare, joining Pittsburgh's Kenny Pickett and Ole Miss' Matt Corral.

Cincinnati's Desmon Ridder and Liberty's Malik Willis are also expected to enter the 2022 NFL Draft."

This is definitely not the year to draft a QB high

Martin Mathew has $4 m for a new quarterback.

"Martin Mayhew

GENERAL MANAGER

Martin Mayhew enters his first season as General Manager of the Washington Football Team.
Mayhew joins Washington with 20 seasons of NFL experience as an executive, including eight seasons as the general manager of the Detroit Lions. He returns to the franchise that he played for from 1989-92 and was a member of the Super Bowl XXVI team"

How can the Admirals afford to make any improvements?

"including eight seasons as the general manager of the Detroit Lions."

With such a great pedigree what could go wrong 🤣 🤣 🤣

I count 22 Free Agents for WFT

Salary Cap info on WFT

I don't see the cap space for a $20 or 40 m QB. The Admirals cannot afford to pay a first-round pick.

"$42.6 million ( WFT Cap Space)

After the playoffs, the NFL will audit incentives, bonuses, etc by team. That figure will be added/subtracted to the number below. According to Over the Cap, Washington has $42.6 million in cap space for 2022.2 days ago"

One way to create cap space is to cut second-string players, and keep your third string for cheap, but that sacrifices back-up capabilities, when injuries occur. Remember Bruce Allen?

Malik Willis, or Matt Corral, QB for the Admirals, no 11 Pick?

"Taylor Heinicke signed a 2 year, $4,750,000 contract with the Washington Football Team, including a $1,000,000 signing bonus, $1,500,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $2,375,000. In 2022, Heinicke will earn a base salary of $1,500,000, a roster bonus of $750,000 and a incentive bonus of $125,000, while carrying a cap hit of $2,875,000 and a dead cap value of $500,000."

" Contract Notes:
  • $1.5M guaranteed (signing bonus + $500,000 of 2021 salary)
  • 2021 per game active bonus: $23,529 ($500,000, 3 LTBE)
  • 2022 per game active bonus: $44,117 ($750,000)
  • Annual Incentives: $2M
    60% snaps + a win: $125,000 (6: $750,000 earned)"

Is it going to be the Washington Admirals?

The least desirable name, is probably the cheapest, so there is the least amount of merchandising revenue sharing required with other teams already having the same name.

"Somewhere between frustration and disappointment, the Washington Football Team looks back at a lost 2021 season with a clear focus on obtaining a quarterback for 2022.

Asked Tuesday if Washington might need to find a quarterback this offseason, head coach Ron Rivera laughed and said, "That's an understatement."

While there are plenty of quarterbacks out there, the best are either already on another team or waiting to be drafted.

And for the first time as Washington's boss, it sounds like Rivera is ready to make the big move necessary to land one. "

"As we look at all avenues and we sit down and we talk about trading, whether it's trading for a player or trading up in the draft — what will it take? — we can have an earnest conversation where we may say, 'It's going to take not just draft picks, but it may take a core player or two.' With the depth we have at certain positions, we might be."

Rivera's comments came via the Washington Football Talk Podcast, and the coach explained his team can seriously consider a litany of moves to acquire a quarterback. Asked specifically about trade possibilities, Rivera seemed ready to explore all options."

What about if you have good receivers and tight ends, a gifted QB is not needed to complete passes. Don't forget about the Defense to win games.

Is Kirk Cousins, Minneapolis QB, available?
I think a better name would be:

"The Potomac Floaters"

"The Delaware River Explosive Dysentery"

What do you think?

Why not the Washington Owls? They are found in Washington DC (screech owls) that is and there is no professional team in the NFL called the owls.

"At this point, no, nothing’s out of the question,” Rivera said.

If Rivera could somehow pull off the impossible and acquire Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson, then, no, Washington would not be in the market for a rookie passer. However, if Washington signed a veteran passer such as Mitchell Trubisky, it could still choose a first-round quarterback, such as Matt Corral."

Mayhew agreed.

“I would just echo what coach said and tell you that we’ve started the process,” Mayhew said. “We’ve been talking about this for several months now and how we move forward. Every avenue uncover every stone. We look at every situation out there and try to find the right guy.”

Aaron Rodgers would be a perfect fit for the no names

I think Aaron Rodgers, QB is looking for a contract with a large salary, and with little work.

Washington has given players who are over-the -hill, large salaries and have been seemingly intentionally ripped off.

"When making this list, there were many things that stood out. The {WFT} typically went for either aging, former stars or players who did not deserve a payday. It did not matter what side they were on, the {WFT) gave them all long contracts for way too much money.

Did the San Antonio Commanders football team sell out to WFT?

Seems all but 2 QB picks for 2022 will be available at Pick No 11, for WFT.

Here is a link to a thread on Aaron Rodgers, QB

Will Kenney Pickett, QB, Pitt, be available at pick No. 11 for the Commanders?

"Arm Strength: Pickett won’t be confused as having a rocket launcher attached to right shoulder, but he has good arm strength. He frequently slots the football on outbreaking routes to the field and zips the ball into windows with good velocity. He is a terrific vertical passer that doesn’t have to dig deep to find the juice needed to drive it down the field. "
