Putin being canceled

Generally I’m vehemently opposed to cancel culture but in this case I’m all for it and it just may change the way the world turns. Nearly every country on earth barring China and NK of course are appalled by Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Stores are pulling Russian vodka, sporting events are being canceled and even FB is standing up to Russia. If Ukraine can hold off long enough it’s possible Russia will realize it’s being isolated from the entire world and this invasion will crumble. If that happens we enter a new era.

Meanwhile, the Taliban is on Twitter, China is running concentration camps and organ harvesting for the black market, and run our cars on Saudi Arabian oil (just to name a few things)....How consistency! Much principle!

I sure as hell hope so, but my fear is that Putin will see that the opportunity for a negotiated deal for Ukrainian neutrality is a ship that's sailed, and at that point, there's no going back. Putin will be as brutal as he feels he has to be as long as he's in power. It's not just Putin either but people who support him. They're not going to just say "Okay, we screwed up, we'll go back to our day jobs."
No other country’s leaders are publicly standing with Putin.

Political and economic isolation
The Russian people are pissed prior to the war due to declining standards of living and this war of Putin's doesn't look like he's going to turn them to his favor with the nationalistic fervor he clearly intended to pull off.

Russia is losing but this is also what makes the situation dangerous. Putin's goal isn't just about Ukraine; in attacking Ukraine, he's really telegraphing a larger aim, which is to challenge the American-led/NATO/Western/EU/G20 alliance. Putin probably cannot win in Ukraine without totally destroying Kiev, which would be a global outrage.

At the same time, Putin and those close to him are not in a position to lose. They must win. To lose means facing the end of his regime, which is not an option. A cornered, wounded animal, is also a dangerous one. The rational choice right now would be for Putin to see that the gig is up and look for a face-saving way out. But he's had several rational choice to make already, and he's made the less/least rational decisions each time. I learned long ago, never trust that people will make the rational choice.

We can't just assume that Putin and his inner circle won't escalate - they could, and if they do, some of these scenarios are potentially nightmarish. Let's say, for example, he decides to test the resolve of the NATO alliance. We've assumed, and continue to assume, that Putin is bluffing. We've been wrong. What if Putin assumes that NATO is just nothing but a paper tiger, the ultimate American/European bluff, and that he can just tear it apart by attacking Estonia or Latvia? We are required to defend any NATO country that is attacked. If we don't, NATO falls apart, and so does America's credibility - with pretty much any and every country that the U.S. claims to protect, from Germany to Japan.

But if we do protect Estonia or Latvia, we face a real non-zero risk of a nuclear exchange. Remember, Putin is a cornered, wounded animal. He's a dangerous one.

We're in no position to accept his threats or his escalations, but we have to continue to think of ways to offer Putin an off-ramp that allows him to save face. We can't get smug and self-righteous about this -- let the Ukrainians defending their home do that. But we have to not only promise to defend but even more aggressively work with Putin - as much as we hate to - and Ukraine and find a way out of this mess. It's extremely dangerous.

Wow... Even in Iran they are turning against Putin.

Here in Amerika, you don't troll forum, forum troll you.

Cancel culture in America based on political opposition and cancel culture based on invading a sovereign country and killing people. If you can’t see the difference I actually feel sorry for you.
Cancel culture does not exist...as this is simply the collective opinion of millions of human beings who object to the actions of a despot and that's not culture, it's logic and love of freedom and democracy.
Reducing that to a convenient buzz word is an element of propaganda.
