And he is really flubbing trying to be one. Not only his remarks about the Confederate flag a kind of Howard Dean deja vu, but he actually failed to recognize one on a flagpole. Southerners recognize pandering when the see it. But pandering is not going to erase Giuliani's positions on abortion, gay rights, gun control, and other issues, are not what the red states have in mind in looking for a leader. Giuliani's candidacy is dead in the South already.

So lets see what we have - Likes gun control, is soft on the abortion issue, is not against gay marriage, doesn't recognize a Confederate flag, likes big government, bends with the wind on just about all issues, and never decides what he is for or against without first looking at a poll. Who is he? John Kerry? Well, yes, but the correct answer this election cycle is Rudy Giuliani. Now lets see how many of our Bush apologist friends will try and defend Giuliani while having the gall to call themselves Conservative. That is going to be a very, very tall order.

Rudolph Guliani is a cathol-o-nazi moron who should be permenantly banned from government employment of any kind.

Clarify this one for me, what would conservatism have to do with anti-gay rights? Anti abortion? anti-environmentalism? confederate flag? I see all of these as issues that the traditional conservative would be against rather than for. To which Giuliani would fulfill. However, gun control and big government are what I think conservatives would indeed be against.

Shhhhhhh!
Don't bring it up. When we have people like Navy Pride supporting him, its almost a guarantee that the neo-cons and rightwing will be out of the whitehouse. We need them to support people like Giuliani.

Just the thought of Guiliani in some position of power again scares me. He basically turned New York into a police state

Thank you. I had my iffy's on this particular candidate from the beginning. I always wondered how he got in office in a highly liberal town. Apparently he goes by Fiscal conservative and the new label social liberal should be added on it. Believe me you are right the South won't go for him. Better find someone else to take the Republican ticket. If you can't find someone the south will like, doubt you'll get a majority vote to take the White House :)

You sound like one of the real Conservatives, and not one of the Bush RINOs. Plenty of reason for you to support Ron Paul. :)

Thank you for the "I am a real conservative" comment.

Would I be required by many to like Guiliani and like Bush at the same time? I like Bush but reading up on Guiliani has truly scared me.

Also I am not familiar with Ron Paul. Is he popular or anything? As much as I support fiscal conservation, I also take great priority of social conservative stances as well.:)

Ron Paul is a Libertarian who ran as a Republican in one of the most Conservative districts in the nation to win a Congressional seat. He practices what he preaches too.

The wife of the guitar player in one of my bands was his nurse, when he had his practice (she is head OR nurse at Brazoria County Hospital in the Lake Jackson/Angleton area now). Ron Paul is just about the most honest guy you will ever meet, and says what is on his mind instead of trying to please everyone. He stands for limited government, limited spending, personal freedom and personal responsibility...... You know, things like Republicans used to stand for. he has an uphill battle though, since the GOP is more interested in whoring themselves out and outliberaling the Liberals these says.

Ron Paul is my first choice. My second is Gingrich, but he has too much personal baggage. I don't give much of a crap about anyone else running in the GOP primaries.

I think Giuliani's okay.
If we have to have another Republican president, I wouldn't mind him.
Heck of a lot better than what we've got now, at any rate.
But didn't he have cancer recently? What if he dies?
I'd have to know who would be VP, before I could support any president who might potentially drop dead any minute.
