WASHINGTON — A group of protesters staged a "noise demonstration" Saturday morning outside of United States Postal Service Postmaster General Louis DeJoy's home in Northwest D.C. amid allegations of limiting mail-in voting for the 2020 Presidential election.

The demonstration was organized by the direct action group Shut Down D.C. They gathered in Kalorama Park in Adams Morgan on the corner of Kalorama Road and 19th Street and marched towards DeJoy's home.

Members of the group came together to protest against DeJoy's leadership ahead of mail-in voting for the 2020 Presidential election.

The organization believes DeJoy is "dismantling" the U.S. Postal Service in favor of President Donald Trump's re-election. They said his actions contribute to voter suppression.

"DeJoy has fired or reassigned much of the existing USPS leadership and ordered the removal of mail sorting machines that are fundamental to the functioning of the postal service. Meanwhile, mail delivery is slowing down under other decisions made by DeJoy, such as eliminating overtime for postal workers," the group said in a statement.

I'm very happy to see this.

These protests must continue 24/7.

The message must be sent loud and clear to this administration and Trump's Republican allies in Congress.

Cheating in this election will not be tolerated.

Good. I think trump backpedaling and saying he is now willing to grant 25 B for the USPS if the Congress can get a Bill passed shows he knows he is being exposed and is now trying to cover his fat arse. The USPS Director needs to Go, Now.

Excellent. They should stay there until the day after the election and then they can blame him for their mail in ballot not being delivered because they forgot to mail while it out protesting him because they could waste days on nonsense keeping them from showing up to vote in person.

Trump says a lot of ****, though, so I wouldn't believe it til I see it.

What we do see is his toadie Postmaster General undercutting the USPS and shutting down sorting machines to affect mail-in ballots and the traitorous right excusing these assaults on democracy.

Nah... These people are going to vote no matter what... And then when the new DOJ is in place start prosecuting those who participated in violating 18 U.S. Code § 1703.Delay or destruction of mail or newspapers....

One must stand against attempts to tear down Democracy.

This man is doing the bidding of the President by tearing it down before your eyes.

Many Conservatives said they would stand against attempts to tear down the country.

Now they stand silent.

Silence is complicity.

If I lived there, I'd be right there protesting with them.

You have no idea how angry this is making people.

American citizens have the right to vote, and during the middle of a global pandemic, the administration should not be making it more difficult to vote.

Trump and his supporters that support such nonsense by interfering with the operations of the USPS are now acting like traitors, like fascist thugs who hate our country and hate their fellow citizens.

Not all Trump supporters are silent. We have seen some openly cheering the suppression on, including one or two who posted in this very thread.

It really must be a bitch if you are a trump supporter and have to continually makes excuses or attempt to change the topic when trump violates the rules and laws of this Nation, especially since everyone knows that if this were a Dem administration they would be calling for arrests for crimes and their favorite, for treason. Makes one wonder if some will be glad once trump is gone and all they have to do is whine like they did for eight years under President Obama. I would feel sorry for them if they were not such a great danger to the Nation itself, so from me they will get no Sympathy and no Quarter.

Absentee voting has never impacted a National election. The votes are statically insignificant

Your lack of understanding is noted and dismissed. When you realize that this election will be significantly different from previous elections, maybe you will also realize the error of your post.

That is the rub. Mask properly worn will allow voting in person. It is as essential as going to the grocery, liquor store or even an abortion.

Many states have already planned on closing a lot of polling centers with plans to extend to mail-in voting as part of safety measures during the pandemic. Then there are states that have been doing mail-in voting for years, like Colorado, and are not equipped for huge turnout at their polling stations. We would be underequipped and understaffed for people to vote in person in large numbers.

Trump has already taken numerous action that reduces the likelihood of ballots being counted which would favor Biden. What action are the Dems taking? At least LeBron James is coming up with ideas that the Dems are too busy doing whatever the hell it is they do to come up with.

I condemn the violence we sometimes see during protests. But these types of protests were seeing in this instance are exactly what we need! Everywhere! Let's make it 1969 again! And leave Trump to the same end-fate as Nixon.

Here's some J.A., at their best. For those that remember, and those that need to learn. The tune that inspired a generation. Let's not let the dream die ...
