Prosecutors called their final witnesses Monday in the trial of Guy Reffitt, an alleged participant in last year’s Capitol riot who authorities say threatened to shoot his own children if they turned him in.
Reffitt, a 49-year-old member of the far-right “Texas Three Percenters” militia group, is the first person to stand trial in connection with the events of Jan. 6, 2021. He is charged with bringing a gun onto the Capitol grounds and interfering with police officers guarding the building.

Jurors heard Monday from two officers who said they attempted to keep Reffitt from accessing the building, as well as an FBI agent involved in the investigation.
Reffitt declined to testify in his own defense, and his attorney, William Welch, told the court Monday that he planned to call zero witnesses.

Fellow Three Percenter Rocky Hardie testified last week that Reffitt said he wanted to physically remove members of Congress from the Capitol and replace them with people who would “follow the Constitution.”
Hardie told the court that he considered Reffitt’s words to be “hyperbole” and didn’t think he would act on them.

Taxes has problems with more than guns.

I was told no guns were found nor weapons..

Are you saying people lied?

Shocking

Still trying to process the words of one rattler testifying that the other rattler in his group rattling his tail was just hyperbole.

Why bother with a trial? Why not just take a plea?

There is a problem in much of our political discourse by which propagandists like to pluck one problem out of the air, expand it beyond any rational boundary and apply it to a much greater group.

You have done this here.

Are you saying this isn't true, he isn't on trial, it's all bullshit? In case you haven't noticed by all the pictures and video, he wasn't alone.

I don't know why you are asking what I said. I stated it pretty clearly.

Those numbers are interesting.

In a demonstration involving 30,000 people, this seems like a small number.

The weapons charges are, I think, all surrounding things found on site after the entry, weren't they? Were there any reports of guns being fired by the protesters?

Passions rise. Bad things happen. It's too bad. We are averaging more than one cop assaulted every day in this country right now YTD in 2022.

How many protesters cited were charged with more than one charge of those listed above?

Sounds like there was, at most, about 1 out of about 900 who were charged. Sounds bad if you'd like to make it sound bad.

Sounds like a pretty calm Sunday afternoon in South Chicago.

Feel free to research that question.

Plausible deniability, since most of them were not actually searched, especially not on the outside. The only reason this guy didn't get inside was because he stopped moving in when hit by pepper spray, perhaps projectiles, and it deterred him from going forward.

I just meant people here lied

The leftists keep screaming about this being an "insurrection". He's charged with "bringing a gun onto the Capitol grounds and interfering with police officers"??? What, where is the insurrection charge??? Yes, people have been lying.

It took over a year to nail this guy. Always has to be a first, right? The others will have their turns.

No insurrection charges. Yet. Just sedition and conspiracy. No big deal.

So, you are admitting there are no charges of insurrection, over a year later. Thanks

There is a greater problem in our political discourse whereby some, in the interest of distracting from the open treason of their political allies, deny empirical reality. Way more than one dude broke the barriers, assaulted the police and illegally vandalized/entered the capital for the purpose of subverting democracy. In fact, it was hundreds of GOP traitors, all feeding from an information trough full of bullshit, supplied by Trump.

The GOP has, in a number of ways, become like the catholic church. They insist, in contradiction to the facts, that their organization is the subject of wrongful persecution rather than admit they have a problem with predators using their name to give cover to unspeakable crimes. Just as the catholic pedophiles are shuffled around like a shell game, the GOP leadership chooses to obstruct justice rather than seek it.

The real victims-the voting citizens of the USA- must endure the GOP's insulting denial and their attack-the-victim strategy. History, if it is not ultimately "sanitized" by the fascists, will no doubt consider them to be a malignant cancer upon our nation's democratic potential and a perverse spectacle of shameless conservative power by ANY means.

Oh, the word "insurrection" is where your stupid immoral line is drawn? All of that other shit, when added up, equals insurrection, even if the word does not exist in the statutes, which equals a coup attempt, which equals treason by the GOP leadership.

It's too bad the conservatives are so dumb or dishonest they think semantics excuses their treachery. Two can play that game. I say we give these "patriots" a long "vacation" and their leader a "rope necktie".

No, that was not the point of my comment.
