Critics of the law (notably from African American rights groups, i. e. the NAACP) claim that it's racist, enacted for the sole purpose of allowing White people to more easily shoot Blacks and other non-Whites. Their argument is that although the law is at face value not racist, it was enacted with the intent of inequally enforcing it, or in other words, for the cops to use it as an excuse to not arrest/prosecute the shooters of Black people, while ignoring the law when it comes to Blacks shooting White people.

However, evidence from the Zimmerman defense team shows that the State of Florida was actually determined to win, and not simply prosecuting Zimmerman to create the impression that the state was playing fair (to avoid riots), without making an effort to put up a good case.

Clearly, the state wouldn't have tried these tactics if it didn't care about putting Zimmerman in jail. That should effectively dispel any perceptions that Corey's office is racist and wants to just make life miserable for Blacks.
