As a statement of fact, white supremacists hate Obama because he is black. These people have existed at the fringes of society and, most likely, will continue to exist. So, as long as they do exist, I guess you think that you should be able to project what a few nutbags on the fringe think onto Conservatives in general?
This is the oldest, stalest, lamest tactic in the progressive playbook. And it's so DAMNED ironic that the very people who still use it see themselves as "enlightened".
Oh look, the guy who brags about his "debate" talents in college creates and attacks a strawman...yet again.
Please...show us who is suggesting in this thread that there is not opposition to Obama because of his race?
I see people suggesting that there was race baiting going on...and I see people suggesting someone who actually made an absolute statement that those who don't have specific policy issues they can cite must hate him becuaes of his race...but I see NO ONE suggesting that there is 0 opposition to Obama because of race.
Well...I should say, I see no one suggesting that OTHER than you through your creation of a strawman.
So I guess there is no hatred of Obama and none of it is based on race?
Sure, there's some based on race...I don't doubt that at all.
So all the white people who voted for Obama in 2008 were not racists, but now all the white people who change their votes from Obama to Romney are racist.
Is that how it works or am I mistaken?
this was my opening post in this thread - #13 -
And even you admitted the reality of it before you saw fit to attack me personally by bringing up my formal collegiate debate experience and trying to be a smart ass impugning it.
So the real question is why are you attacking me personally?
That seems to be the line of thought used by some.
Not attacking you personally, I'm attacking your poor debate tactics and routine strawmanning.
Your opening post immedietely postulated a question that was asking something no one in the thread was in any way suggesting. It also happened to come immedietely after a post dealing with the notion of Obama and race not being as big of an issue as someone was making it out to be, which made it appear that you were possibly commenting. You know, since typically people don't make their first response in a thread a question unless that question is aimed at someone in thread or is rhetorical. In either case here, you'd be strawmanning.
It's a pointless rhetorical, because no one was suggesting it. It's a pointless directed question, because no one was suggesting it.
No, I cannot.Could you quote where I said that the reason all or even most conservatives hate the President is because of race?
No, I cannot.
But it is worth noting that there is still the need to inject race into the equation. It's kind of like Sandra Fluke getting a full page story in the newspaper even though a total of ten people showed up to hear her speak.
Race is part of equation and it matters not who likes it or not, who approves of it or not, or who is willing to stop playing ostrich and admit that it is there or not.
As far as Sandra Fluke - I have no idea what that has to do with this.
I'll throw this out for you guys to chew on... If Obama is not reelected race WILL be a reason why. It won't be because of racism on the right, though. It will be because of the racism on the left.:shock:So everybody agrees that some of the hatred of Obama is based on the fact that he's a black man. The only disagreement is what percentage of that hatred is based on race. Haymarket never claimed that most of the hatred was based on race, at least from the posts I've read in this thread.

It's a fairly obvious analogy... and I'm not surprised that you don't get it.
Race only matters to those who wish to exploit it and those who go along for the ride.
Baloney. Race has mattered in this country for hundreds of years. Entire institutions were based on it. You can play ostrich all you want but it is a fact of life that matters to all sorts of people. To pretend otherwise is to be ignorant of American history and the land we live in.
I understand our history very well. As you mentioned, the fact we have institutions dedicated to race only verifies my point. However, I am one of those who has evolved and no longer judges people by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. Good luck.
Slavery was one of those institutions dedicated around race. Jim Crow segregation was another one.
WTF happend to him. I used to watch him everyday about 12 years ago. They must put something in the coffee over there at MSNBC that solely turns you into a nutbar.
Chris Matthews is a disgrace... That asshat actually pulled the race card after tonights debate

Like I said, I am well educated on the history of the USA. Hopefully, everyone can move on and live in the present.
Do you subscribe the the theory that what has happened before has no effect on the here and now?
He's an Obama toady of the worst kind. Racial hatred as a reason to opposing Obama is less prevalent than racism is a reason for his supportChris Matthews is a disgrace... That asshat actually pulled the race card after tonights debate
