Great job, Mr. President! Greeeeeeaaaaat job!

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Productivity, a sore spot for the U.S. economy over the past few years, has now declined in three straight quarters, according to data released Tuesday.

Productivity in the second quarter unexpectedly fell 0.5%, well below expectations, the Labor Department said. Economists surveyed by MarketWatch had forecast a 0.3% gain in productivity in the quarter.

Corporate Capitalism isn't a model for productivity. It's quite the opposite actually.

Great job, Mr. President! Greeeeeeaaaaat job!

Odd way of looking at proctivity:

Output of goods and services increased at a 1.2% clip in the second quarter. Hours worked rose 1.8%.

Productivity measures how much an employee produces in an hour of work. Higher productivity is regarded as the key to a rising standard of living over time because it tends to lead to higher pay for workers and larger profits for companies.

Which is more productive?

A) Producing $X using 2 $20/hour workers per 8 hour shift.

B) Producing $X using 3 $12/hour workers per 8 hour shift.

Maybe socialism would work better, right?

Meh, the real solution is Free Market Capitalism, but that's not a favorite of the Republocrat ruling elite these days.

You're confusing roi with labor productivity. The input is human effort measured in hours. The hourly rate is the only the cost of that input.

But honestly, your way of thinking concerns me. Why not go to $X using 12 $1/hour workers per 8 hour shift?

The slope during Obama is less than the slope during Bush.

The oll pissing contest eh?

Moral of the story the average productivity increase under Obama is still higher than Bush..

Hence why I said I wouldn't be too worried about productivity in the USA because historically it has consistently increased.

The cost per shift is what matters since human labor per hour is not consistent.

All things combined, Obama is producing the worst economic growth in American history.

There are expenses on top of payroll that are incurred when hiring an employee. The more employees you have, the more it costs your company, no matter what their salaries are set at.

So now we are shifting goalposts to continue your pissing contest.

What goalpost did I move? Or, is this going to turn into another libbo whineftest because you know I'm right and feel obligated to defend Obama because he's half black?

You know what a slope is?

Says who? Is what is best for capitalism our only viewpoint now?

since human labor per hour is not consistent.
First, this does not follow. Second, were talking about the aggregate, not differences in job to job. If this is what you believe, just call the bls dumb for tracking such a thing and move on.

Nobody said the $/hour number wasn't total cost. But honestly payroll overhead isn't my concern at all. My concern is a line of thinking that turns us back into a 3rd world country for the sake of "efficient" capitalism.

The costs above and beyond payroll will turn The United States into a third world country quicker than anything.

What exactly would you like to talk about? I think its evidence of our education system not continuing to advance with our economy. You?

It's evidence that the big government socialists in the Democrat party have failed miserably.

Greetings, apdst. :2wave:

Or succeeded beyond expectations, depending on whose agenda you're looking at!

Productivity, then you brought up Bush v Obama productivity index saying Bush was better (which isnt really true), then you're now shifting it to "overall economy" and still attempting to make it a pissing contest.

No, you made the Bush/Obama comparison.
