PRINCE Harry is going to Iraq, reportedly heading there with his unit in May.

Harry will be stationed near the southern port city of Basra and will likely be assigned to patrol the border with Iran.

London's Daily Telegraph said Harry, 22, is determined to go, despite reports of resistance from many in the military who fear he would be a fat prize for terrorists.

They're also worried he would attract attention and put his fellow soldiers in greater danger.

The Telegraph said officials are trying to figure out how to minimise the danger without giving Harry special treatment.

As a second lieutenant, he will have command of 11 men and four light tanks.

Pretty interesting example of a member of the elite class choosing to place himself in harms way. Everything he's said before has indicated that he doesn't want to be given any special privileges, but it does raise the question as to whether him being there might do more harm than good.

Yeah it raises a big question. I mean, kudos to him for not wanting special treatment, but one has to wonder about his motivation when he will actually place the people he serves with in harms way.
 
A true Prince leads from the front. Personally, I think this is a sign that society might be recovering from its recent illness.

I sincerely hope he is not sent to Iraq.
As has been said he would represent a prime target as well as having his men in harms way more so than if he were not there.
Although his uncle Prince Andrew (the one who is married to that waste of space Fergie) flew helicopters in the Falklands Island war.
But if he had been captured he would have been treated properly as both the UK and Argentina are signatories to the Geneva Convention.
Unlike the Terrorists who simply desire to kill anyone who is A) Not Muslim, B) Anyone who is not of their particular sect of Muslim. C) Anyone who does not agree with whatever they say they believe in.
 
His grandmother will veto it. No way that the 2nd in line will be put in harms way, even though he wants to.

A bit differnt, but point taken.

To make the comparison correct, it would be like sending the speaker of the House of Representitives to war and harms way.

The Bush twins would not "inherit" their fathers kingdom would they now?

The fact that they are the daughters of the President of the United States means they would be just as large a target and just a large a distraction as a Prince of England -- if not more so, all things considered. That they do not inherit the President's title is irrelevant to thhis.

Yea but that was not part of the debate concerning the Bush twins, at least the part I read.

But the Bush twins dont have the constitutional/political bagage that Harry has. He is after all the 3rd in line to the British crown, so the comparison with the speaker of the house is correct as the speaker I believe is 3rd in line to the Presidency after, the President himself and the VP. Correct me if I am wrong :)

That will be joining a large majority of conservatives that have been there time and time again.....but glad that you also agree that he is a liberal that supports Nazism......seems to be a trend with the libs nowadays

While I was on my second tour of duty in Iraq, after asking many different soldiers how they voted and what lines they considered themselves to lean conservative or liberal...a huge majority considered themselves to be conservative or lean to the right......the proof is how the military has voted the last 20 years.......a huge majority for the conservative/republican president over a liberal/democrat.......

He supports Nazism? Are you saying all the Adolf Hitler impersonators support Nazism? It was a ****ing halloween costume. If I dress like a jew for Halloween does it mean I support the Moussad? No it just means I thought it was funny for a black guy to wear a jewish hat and say "Happy Hanucka" alot.

Countless actors have protrayed Hitler. Does it mean they're nazis and support the nazis?
