What good is it raising salaries or providing gov stimulus if the companies and suppliers, in reaction, just keep raising prices, increasing the cost of living?

They shouldn't be able to use their power and leverage to rig the economy and legislature so all the money flows upwards. Fox News cries every day and night that small businesses can't hire people because the gov is giving them too much assistance. When in truth, the conservatives could care less about mom & pop companies and only want to protect large corporate profits and tax cuts.

It's sickening.

Biden, the Congressional Elites and the multinational corporate globalists are happy.

It's all about the money and freedom, and both are evaporating quickly.

Prices are rising everywhere

They have been for awhile actually. Depressed fuel prices due to the lack of travel helped hide rising food prices for example. Now that we are traveling again, fuel prices are back up and the full weight of the increases across the board are being felt.

Wait till this supposedly, convenient, hacked caused gas supply interruption hits. I predict $4 pump prices by summer.

Prices always rise, it's called inflation. And Gas has been $4 in the past. That's not an example of rising prices. Gas was almost $5 during the Bush 2006-2008 collapse years.

"The guy who just won an election is happy"

I mean, okay? Yes, and?

Prices are going up, but it doesn't seem to be across the board, it seems like particular products are jumping faster than others. Hopefully, this means that the increased prices we are seeing is 'supply chain related' and not inflation.

Must keep people poor and the economy in the tank so inflation stays low.

Are you happy that globalists who don't give a damn about Americans are happy?

After all, that who the guy who just "won" an election is happy about.

In a non fiat currency economy prices would actually decrease for products ( not for finite resources)

The government floods the economy with funny money and you blame business for the effects. Thats unbelievable.

It is known as inflation.

How did you expect the increased salaries was going to be paid ?

You can thank Joey for the spike in gas prices. Putting the brakes on oil drilling will do that.

100% wrong. The fuel prices are up due to a lack of tanker truck drivers that move the fuel. 25% lost their jobs at the height of Covid and those people are slow to come back.

There is no shortage of fuel, never has been. You could have researched this in 5 minutes via the Google machine.

Why would they be 'slow coming back?' And what evidence do you have that the price increases are due to a labor shortage?

??? Inflation hurts the poor more than anyone else because it means the few dollars that they do have are worth less.

That must be the reason. We are slow on supply and up on demand. Now that we have the TP and wipes situation back on track and canned tuna is back on the shelves, our focus is shifting to home improvement and clothing. Slow boats from China and wherenot are probably worth mentioning.

Likely true.

Prices can also rise because prices are rising. Meaning sellers notice how much the cost of their own inputs is going up and they increase their prices to adjust. Further, they may do so out of fear of hyperinflation, i.e. to preempt further price increases elsewhere. If sellers increase prices reactively and by the time they've updated their prices, everything else has gone up too, they're behind. And then buyers pay it anyway out of fear that it will only be harder to afford tomorrow. This is how it can get out of hand.

possible, but we won't know until a bit of time has passed because rising inflation typically does not affect every single item at once.

plus seriously rising gas prices guarantees inflation across the board. we just don't know how bad yet. I'm guessing pretty bad though.

How could all the Biden funny money NOT cause inflation. That's the question.

A D is now president. That means all the bad stuff is now his fault, not CNN's. Thems the rules.

So is your Dear Leader. He browbeat the Fed into keeping interest rates low when the trade-off of that is rising prices. And now he'll get to charge more rent, room rates in his hotels, drinks, food, Trump clothing, including Ivanka's, etc. And rising prices devalues the mountain of debt he's sitting on, which is a good thing for Dear Leader as well.

Screw hi and clothing, we need computer chips!
