It won't change too many minds, most minds are already made up regarding Donald Trump, but it will provide a bevy of very nice video snippets from the patriots that have testified before the House.
 
Historical precedent in the United States doesn’t work too well since we’ve never elected a populist before.

But let’s go with global historical precedent: when did populism end well?

While I think Trump will remain on the Top Ten List of Worst US Presidents for a century or two to come, the Democrats don't have anyone to replace him. The gambling odds still favor Trump winning reelection (even if he resigns in 2021!) and I have money riding on Trump winning. The odds still favor the Republicans retaining the Senate and the Democrats the House.

It’s a competitive democratic primary and the Iowa caucuses are 90 some days away, why is everyone fretting over how democrats haven’t picked their nominee yet when we are still at the beginning of the nomination process?

Sorry, but the Democrats already booted all of the moderates off the stage. Those remaining are only "moderate" by comparison to the LWL on the stage.

Regardless who the Democrats pick, most Democrats will vote for the "D" on the ballot. Most Republicans will vote for the "R". So who will the Independents vote for? Democrats are about 30% of the voters, Republicans about 29% but the Independents are 40%. Which way the Independents lean is how the election will be determined.

Right now, the Independents don't like Trump, but they aren't fans of the far left direction of the Democrats either. When voters are given a choice of two unlikable candidates they'll usually vote for the status quo, "the devil you know". That's just basic human psychology.

That's not populism. Populism can best be summed up as a "people's" (i.e. the working class) revolution for the purpose of destroying or punishing a perceived elite class. This is exemplified by Republican voters' desire to "turn Trump into a missile and aim it at Washington." Populism is inherently destructive since destruction is the primary aim. Historical examples of populism are the Marxist Revolution, the French Revolution and Venezuela.

To my knowledge, populism has never ended well.

I should clarify about the inclusion of Venezuela as an example since Republicans often like to think that was a socialist thing.

Marxism is the farthest thing from Trump's populism, which is based on capitalism. Capitalism is what made this country great. Trump's ideas make it work for all, rich and poor.
That's why our economy is the healthiest in the world right now.

Capitalism mixed with healthy dollops of socialism is what is responsible for our success.

Most are moderates but a few run to extremes even the most extreme in the parties can't stand.

True, it's a difficult term to define. Personally, I see it as someone willing to discuss an issue. Although forums are not typical of most voters since most are extremists, everyone can see multiple examples of extremists: people who believe their way is the only way and consider anyone who differs to be a moronic enemy. In that case, "moderates" would be what's left when you remove all of the extremists.

I usually include a little disclaimer when I reference a Fox News article, but I also address the substance of the article itself (assuming it has any). By post 3, someone has already dismissed the thread and polluted it anyway by bitching about the source and offering no insight whatsoever into the subject.

I don't get it.

A trump supporter could do what I did, which is point out the flaw in the historian's rationale rather than dismiss his opinion altogether just because I don't like what he says.

But that's not how one behaves like a cheerleader.

Trump and the republicans already know what the democrats will do....is impeach. They are ready and expectant of it, and so is the base....and when more truth is presented in the trial, not like the democratic inquiry, more and more people will join the cause of Trump, because they will see firsthand the utter deceitfulness of the democrats, namely Schiff, Nadler, and Pelosi....he is so very wrong.
