WASHINGTON (AP) -- The nation is poised to elect one of its oldest presidents, and while age doesn't determine health, it begs the question: How much do we know - and should we know - about how physically fit Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are for the job?

"Age always matters" when it comes to risk for disease, said well-known aging researcher S. Jay Olshansky of the University of Illinois at Chicago, but he cautions that it shouldn't be a litmus test for the presidency.

Trump at 70 would be months older than Ronald Reagan on his election day, and Clinton will have just turned 69.

I'm thinking they provide something to the people from their physicians. 'Course that doesn't cover tomorrow...

I'm sure neither of them would be dishonest about any possible health problems. We know both of them have been quite truthful regarding other things.

That is one reason we need to have good VPs.

Mental, or physical?

We know that females live longer than males.
We know that lifestyle is critical in determining health in the older years.
We know that genetics plays a big role in determining health in older years.

Trump is 70.
Trump's father lived to the age of 92, pretty long for someone born in 1905.
His mother lived to the age of 88.
Trump's brother Fred, an alcoholic, committed suicide.
Trump participated in marching drills in high school.
Trump is said not to drink and has never smoked.
He got out of serving in the military thru student deferments and a medical deferment because of heel spurs, he has said.
He is technically obese, it looks like, but not morbidly obese.

Hillary Clinton is 69.
Her father lived to the age of 82 or so. Pretty long for a male born in 1911.
Her mother lived to the age of 92. Pretty long for a female born in 1919.
She participated in sports in the earlier school years.
She has never smoked.
She's a big chunky, but not fat or obese.

They both seem to have a good background for good health, except for Trump's weight issue.

That's why we have the 25th Amendment. Other than that, all I care about is their mental health. Now that... that's a thread topic for ya.

I think obese is a toss up for either ......and Hillary looks a lot older, because women for the most part, don't age well.

Sometimes the biggest thief can't even steal a breath of air!

That's Great...!!! Kudos on that one!!!

Hopefully they are both have stomach cancer and neither would live long into their term.

Did you say that about obama as well?

Probably AIDS.

From Da Weiner?

Either that or she has a short curly hair stuck in her throat.

From Huma?

I'm thinking they provide something to the people from their physicians. 'Course that doesn't cover tomorrow...

Tomorrow is never guaranteed.

The question was about health. I'm aware that some men think women look like crap over a certain age. That's irrelevant. Just like it's irrelevant that Trump is very unattractive now, when he used to be good looking. But he has gotten very fat (the dark suits hide it very well). Clinton is not obese. Just a bit chunky.

Men don't age as well as women, both in appearance and health. Probably because they don't take care of their skin or their health, and they don't get to wear cosmetics or die their hair (well, men on tv wear cosmetics, and Trump colors his hair).

Well, health is important, I guess. But consider FDR and other many Presidents who had health problems, and Winston Churchill who was obese and smoked cigars.

Health may be a factor, but I think other things are possibly more important.
