President Trump grants pardon to former Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona. [W:1067]

This is a clear signal from an authoritarian executive that if you are with him you are thus above the law. The law does not apply to you. The rule of law does not apply to you if you are on the side of Trump. Just be loyal to him and you can lower your pants and defecate upon the law and it will be cleaned up and you go on your merry way.

This is further a signal to all the people being investigated regarding the rape by Russia of our democratic processes that you should shut your mouth and no cooperate and Trump will save your sorry ass in the end.

Its a giant two middle fingers and the two words that go along with that gesture to the rule of law in the country/

Did trump supporters have a secret meeting about a month ago and unanimously decide to only speak in complete gibberish?

It simply comes naturally to them. A meeting is beyond their ability.

Lol

Seeing liberals react all outraged is an additional bonus.

I thought that was the whole bag. What other benefit is there to pardoning a former Sheriff who couldn't abide by the law?

Lol

Seeing right wingers who have mouthed empty platitudes about law and order bend over and ask for another from our authoritarian mental patient is even more hilarious.

Just learned from Preet Bharara that the pardon may have gone against DOJ norms:

https://www.justice.gov/pardon/about-office-0#s3

Pretty sure none of that describe's Arpaio's situation. In fact, going through that page, not a whole lot of those standards actually do.

Does anybody know if Arpaio has accepted responsibility for his crime, expressed remorse or atonement, and sought to make restitution to his victims? And finally, has he served out any period of his sentence, let alone five years of it?

If he did hmm nothing wrong, why does he need a pardon?

I believe he has been found to be in contempt of court, which isn't a conviction per se, but...

He was in violation of a court order. His deputies were engaging in practices that led to unlawfully detaining American citizens who were Hispanic.

Nothing like starting a **** storm in the middle of the Adminstration's first natural disaster

Not to mention he is off on another vacation. Camp David this time.

Pres needs a vacation after his vacation.

Did he seriously just go back on vacation?

It kinda goes to show there isn't anything the 35% who support Trump are not willing politicize. It is making me realize that once the political pendulum swings back, the liberals need to do the same.

I have to ask: what's the significance of the storm?

All you've got to do is give them a little rope. They'll blindly tie the noose, stick there big, ugly heads in it, and jump right through the trap door. Its like they've got Trump Derangement Syndrome complcated by an undiagnosed case of rabies. Actually, it's getting kind of pathetic.

I have to ask: what's the significance of the storm?

Its akin to a magician holding up his right hand over his head and the spotlight shines on it as his left pulls out the hidden gimmick which appears seconds later. Mere distraction.

So, you must be OK with illegally detaining American Citizens. Probably only as long as they are Hispanic. Eh?

Ah the tiny details, all one needs is to place there lips firmly on the Liar in Chiefs huge ass.

This entire presidency has gone against norms.

I'm OK with anything I want to be OK with, and if you don't like it, that's just tough ****. EH?

It clearly isn't working, then.

We're in the middle of four stories at once. Only one story gets to dominate at a time. Which one will it be? The pardoning of an unrepentant racist who broke the law and was conficted, another racist resigned and whose role at the White House was nebulous, making the ban on transgender military enlistees official, or a category 4 hurricane that is in the process of endangering tens of thousands of people and could cause countless millions in damage?
