"I think I've made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard. I've created thousands and thousands of jobs, tens of thousands of jobs, built great structures. I've had tremendous success. I think I've done a lot." -President Donald Trump

As the president so eloquently illustrates, real sacrifice means creating jobs, building structures, and being successful.

In June of 1918 a French Colonol advised Major Lloyd W. Williams of the US Marines to retreat, to which the Major responded, "Retreat? Hell, we just got here." During the ensuing Battle of Belleau Wood, Major Williams was injured from a shell explosion. When the medics approached where he lay on the field of battle, he told them "Don't bother with me. Take care of my good men." He later died from his wounds while being evacuated. In that same battle, Lieutenant Weedon Osborne earned the Medal of Honor, awarded posthumously when he was killed at the age of 25 while attempting to carry a wounded officer to safety. The US Marines ultimately expelled the German forces from the woods. General John Pershing famously said of the exchange "The deadliest weapon in the world is a United States Marine and his rifle."

How many jobs did Lieutenant Osborne create in his brief 25 years? How many great structures did Major Williams build? What do they know about sacrifice, really? They LOST their lives in that battle. And what does that make them? There's a word for people who LOST.

If your helicopter couldn't fly in the rain, would you waste your time taking a motorcade to visit the graves of people who didn't create thousands of job or build great structures?

"He's not a hero. He's a hero 'cause he was killed captured. I like people who weren't killed captured, ok?" - President Donald Trump

The true meaning of sacrifice is when you try to do what is best for America, despite the other party constantly trying to get you with witch hunt after witch hunt after witch hunts.

This is just ****ing moronic idiotic partisan trope.....

He "EXPLAINED THE TRUE MEANING OF SACRIFICE" what are you, ****ing illiterate?

He said he believes he made sacrifices, nothing about the true meaning, or that there aren't other kind....but **** it, you don't like him, so let's make shit up....****ing pathetic.

I don't believe that Trump tries to do what is best for anyone other than Trump.

Regardless, what you have described is thankless perseverance, not sacrifice.

In response to the charge that he did not know the meaning of sacrifice, the President claimed that he made sacrifices, citing job creation and building structures, and financial success as examples of sacrifice. He proved the exact point that he was trying to disprove. He doesn't know the meaning of sacrifice.

Yes, we had eight years of that!

McConnell announced that on Inauguration Day in 2009.

And how many Benghazi investigations were there???

Donald Trump has never made a sacrifice in his life.

He was driven to school in a limousine.

Well, except maybe for the time the banks made him sell his yacht and limited him to a meager $100 K a month for living expenses.....

How quickly you forget mitch telling his troops their job was to make obama a one term president. Didn't give obama his pick and now rushing through the pick of the republicans.

I actually listen to what republican say, like mr graham saying to use his words against him, he doesn't care what he said then and what he is DOING now. Do as I say, not as I do should be the republican mantra. Witch hunts seem to be leading to people pleading guilty and some going to jail. The party of values my arse.

And I have heard the same BS from the left about people on the left, such as Hillary, just to name one. Oh her great selfless civil service to America. Give me a break. She was paid and she was paid well and she, like others, have personally benefited from all of that selfless civil service. Trump may actually be the first president in a very long time who is poorer after leaving office than before he got in, despite lefties saying he's only using the presidency to benefit himself.

I don't disagree with that. I voted for Obama in 2012. Do you also agree that the left have paid Trump back tenfold?

Like I said, idiotic, moronic, partisan idiocy....that's what you bring here....

Is this the same President who were hearing struggles to get into work most days despite working in the building he lives in?

The same guy whose always had millions of dollars at his instant disposal and treated tradespeople like dirt his entire like? The guy who shielded himself from any effects from multiple bankruptcies and let everyone else get screwed?

Yep, he's a modern-day saint.

I didn't forget at all. I voted for Obama in 2012. Would you also agree that the left's paybacks to Trump and the right are hell?

Holy Mother of God

Trump is too ignorant to explain anything. Trump has never worked or made any sacrifices in his entire miserable life. Trump has done nothing for America but divide and destroy, he's a selfish bastard who doesn't give a damn about the people, alive or dead, in our country. He's a piece of trash, like those who still blindly support him and put him over party, country and constitution.

The true meaning of sacrifice is when you try to do what is best for America, despite the other party constantly trying to get you with witch hunt after witch hunt after witch hunts.

So you've redefined 'sacrifice' to whatever it is you can argue Trump has done, therefore he has 'sacrificed.'

With a soldier the concept is easy - he or she 'sacrifices' their health and/or life, or risks doing so, to serve a greater cause, the country, an ideal, their fellow soldiers' lives. But in general, to 'sacrifice' you have to give up something that is valuable to you for someone or something else. Working hard to make money for yourself isn't a 'sacrifice' or if it is then everyone who's ever held a job has 'sacrificed' a lot to put food on the table, and just about every working person in America works as hard as Trump, with less rewards.

I've never seen any indication Trump has ever taken any action that wasn't in the best interests of Trump. If something conflicts with his interests and those of others, he will pick his own interests 100% of the time. The most glaring example is he's a supposed $billionaire, and prior to getting elected had a near perfect record of zero, nada, no, none charitable acts. He had a near perfect record of never taking any step or advancing any cause that wasn't all about DJT. He started a foundation, and it was a fraud, set up entirely to serve his own interests, for example. That's extraordinary for a supposedly wealthy person. I can't identify a single act we'd describe as remotely 'selfless.'

I don't personally know a lot of folks on the left who would hold Hillary Clinton up as a paragon of selfless virtue. Certainly none that were paying attention to what went down with the DNC. A lot of people wrote in for Bernie Sanders in 2016 rather than vote for Hillary. Whataboutism aside, Trump made a fortune off of his flagrant emolument violations.

His definition of 'sacrifice' was what he did. It's a perfect illustration of who Trump is. It doesn't matter how the world defines 'sacrifice' because if it's a good thing then Trump believes he's done it because he does all good things, and nothing anyone else has done is better than what he's done. So now working hard to increase your own wealth is a sacrifice, which means everyone with a job 'sacrifices' when they get up and go to work, so the word no longer has any meaning besides, perhaps, "I did something I'd rather not do, even if it was to advance my own selfish interests."

So when his wife was home with a newborn, he 'sacrificed' by ****ing a porn star. Later he REALLY sacrificed by paying her off to try to keep it private! Remember, STDs were Trump's Vietnam. Risking those was his 'sacrifice' to getting off whenever and with whomever he wanted. SACRIFICE!!

What you posted could be said about the Obama term in office. Politics has gotten so partisan and the American people suffer for it.

Yea, **** it, you got me, HE CLEARLY DEFINED SACRIFICE THERE.....

**** people are so ****ing tied up with hatred that they can't help but shine stupidity....

Yeah, Obama really had some character.

Maybe he shouldn't have acted like a witch so much and they would not have hunted him. Oh and he continues to act the witch today, expect more hunting, sooner or later they just might burn that witch, on the six o-clock news would be great for ratings......

What as stupid about what I posted? You're just basically saying "NUH UHH!!!!" and throwing in some curse words. Is making a coherent point too much to ask?

Trump defined 'sacrifice' by referring to things he thinks he's done. But that definition is made up. Building a building isn't a sacrifice if you are going to profit from borrowing a bunch of money and hiring others to do the hard work of construction that building. What did he give up? I don't "sacrifice" when I hire some guys to mulch my yard because I don't want to haul 12 yards of mulch from the driveway to all the beds. But if I was Trump, I could define that act as a "sacrifice" because I built something - pretty flower beds - and CREATED JOBS!!! And I worked really hard searching for reliable people to do that work. 10-15 minutes of concentrated effort!! SACRIFICE!!

I used Hillary as one example. You can use just about any politician from either side as an example. None of them do it because of any feelings of civic duty.

That was actually my point. I voted for Obama in 2012. Both sides are pieces of shit.

That's fine and largely true - most do what they can to get reelected, the end. To be fair, I'm sure many run for office to try to do some good, even if we disagree about how they want to do it, or what they want done. But then you can't define that as a "sacrifice" unless they risk their seat, or something of value to them, for doing that good thing.

You said,

The true meaning of sacrifice is when you try to do what is best for America, despite the other party constantly trying to get you with witch hunt after witch hunt after witch hunts.

That's made up, and I guess you didn't mean it seriously.
