President Trump and his daughter promote Goya foods in possible ethics violation

If these actions Trump and members of his family are taking are violations of the law, it's not just trolling.

The only reason why Trump is able to do this without consequence is that Trump supporters either don't care about ethics violations or they are just too stupid to understand what an ethics violation is.

The Hatch Act of 1939 prohibits federal employees in the executive branch from undertaking certain activities on behalf of a political candidate. Additionally, certain ethics laws limit government officials from making statements or endorsements of products that would leverage their roles for financial gain. Along with her husband Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump is a federal employee and subject to these requirements. By promoting Goya Foods in the context of the current political campaign it is possible that her Tweet might be seen as a form of political activity in support of the President’s reelection campaign. Similarly, both the photo and the text of her Tweet appear to be an endorsement of the product and enterprise, in violation of federal ethics laws.

Serious question. Can people who are advising the President, but are not receiving a salary from the federal government be considered employees as far as the Hatch Act is concerned?

Personally, I think the stunt is stupid, and if it actually is an ethics violation then Congress can take action. Looking at the federal ethics guidelines posted previously, I don't think it's as cut and dried as some are making it out to be. If either Trump received compensation directly linked to the Instagram posts, then I believe that would be a clear violation.
