Treason has a very narrow legal definition and is used incorrectly by 90%+ people talking about it, including Trump here, use it incorrectly. The people accusing Trump of treason generally aren't describing an act that would actually be legally considered treason either.

Treason: the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.

Sedition: the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.

Obama was technically out of government when Trump was sworn in.

It’s quite possible Hillary and Obama are guilty of sedition. It’s hard to believe Obama didn’t get wind of the spying, so he is at least an accomplice to Clinton, Inc., for a variety of crimes, but not treason or sedition.

Clapper and Brennan, and others on the other hand could be guilty of both if they were on the payroll ofter Trump took the oath.

BTW, if no one is prosecuted, then it will be legal for any other incumbent party to do the same thing, and the candidates will have to negotiate with the intelligence agencies to get their approval so the agencies don’t destroy their candidacy. (This is why I feel Brennan and Clapper will take the brunt of it)

I don't think "treason" is the appropriate word but I get the idea. Obama has his top subordinates have a lot to answer for, and the fact the inquiry has turned into a criminal investigation is significant. Neither Durham nor Barr has a reputation for shooting from the hip which indicates some significant misdeeds are suspected. It'd going to get interesting.
